Travel: North America

Alaska

Some people prefer to search for more sun during summer. But then others also wish to get away from it, especially those who do not wish to have their fair skin darkened and burned by the sun. If you’re one of them keep in mind that you don’t have to stay at home the whole summer just to get away from the heat of the sun. Why not go on a trek up in the icy land of Alaska? Explore the coolness of Kenai Peninsula. This place is in the southern portion of the anchorage. And do you know that this is one of the favorite tourist haunts in this part of the world? It’s true because aside from the ice and majestic glaziers, it has an amazing array of natural attractions.

the Art Basel Miami Beach

Miami is known for its beaches and seemingly unending fun in the sun. But do you know that in December this state also becomes a great attraction for artists and collectors? Yes, for 6 consecutive years now Miami’s South Beach gets converted into an art center. This art exhibit draw in a great crowd, most are serious collectors while others are only those who are curious to see what’s going on in the area. If you are thinking of going on a trip in order to see some serious art then you should choose Miami.

The bright lights never fail to attract. Those who cannot resist these bright lights only have one destination to go – Las Vegas, Nevada! Yes, it is the city that never sleeps. It’s in this place where you’ll find all kinds of entertainment. Just make sure that you have lots of money with you because casinos and various world-class entertainments abound in this place. Aside from that, fine dining and great shopping are always available in Las Vegas. And if you and your sweetheart are thinking of tying the knot, Las Vegas can also be the place!

Underwater Tour

If you like the underwater life so much but do not want to actually go under the sea just to see what lies in it, you should try the aquarium tour right in the Mall of America located in Bloomington, Minnesota. This aquarium tour is really worth the attention you place on it because it was voted by Discovery’s travelchannel.com as “World’s Best Shark Encounter.” This aquarium measures a 300 foot-long glass tunnel that is built with a moving walkway. So while you are in the walkway you get the experience of being underwater without actually getting wet. The glass tunnel will take you 14 feet under the water’s surface so while you are under it you will see an entirely different world where sharks, stingrays and giant sea turtles swim so up close you just have to reach our and you can almost touch them.

North California, The Wine Country

If you are planning to have a wine country vacation this summer, nothing could be better than North California. This region of the United States of America has been famous for growing finest kinds of grapes and for producing the best-tasting wines in the whole world since 1838; thus, the place is known as the “Wine Country.” There are about 200 premium wineries in North California, particularly in the valleys of Napa, Sonoma, Alexander and Russian River. Each offers a splendid combination of first-class wines, mouth watering cuisine, lush valleys, calm surroundings and crisp fresh air—truly a great treat for wine and nature lovers.

willamette valley vineyard

The most beautiful, serene place in the world might just be in Oregon State.
The Willamette Valley is the heart of Oregon. It is nestled between the Coastal and Cascade Mountain Ranges and it takes its name from the river that flows through it.
Farms in this valley grow everything from fruit, nuts and Christmas trees to flowers and grapes.
College towns such as Corvallis and Eugene are a perfect destination for bikers & hikers; flat terrain and paved paths are the best way to explore the hospitable towns.

Jackson Hole

Affordable, exhilarating, romantic, and breathtaking only begin to describe the fun of a snowmobiling vacation. And you can do it all in a single weekend. Don’t believe me? Jackson Hole (WY) specializes in this winter sporting entertainment. My husband and I arrived in Jackson Hole on the evening of Dec 25th and began our two-day adventure the next morning at 6am. The resort fed us, clothed us, transported us, and guided us onto our snowmobiles, which we drove to the summit in Yellowstone National Park...

Point Arena, CA

Point Arena is the perfect spot for a honeymoon, a family vacation, or an adventure. I should know; I’ve spent so much time on the Mendocino coastline that it’s like a second home.
In fact, my husband and I honeymooned there in 1996. Point Arena is one of California’s smallest cities and overlooks the Pacific Ocean, just a 90 minute drive north of San Francisco via the famous Highway 1. Everywhere you look is picture postcard material.

Where in the world did you build those idyllic childhood memories? You know the ones I mean -- where no one said "no" and nothing stopped you from searching through the forbidden corners of an off-limits world. Was it at a relative's home? Was it in a new town, or maybe a vacation stopover?

Crockett (CA) provided so many places for children to explore that the memories remain vivid years later for me and my siblings. Walking along the railroad tracks only yards away from the waterway tempted us constantly. From there we would walk a mile or two to the pier and peek inside the ramshackle bar where fishermen bought bait and beer. On lucky days the huge cargo ship passed within spitting distance, carrying sugar cane from Hawaii to the C & H Sugar Refinery--the lifeblood of Crockett, where jobs kept the town alive for generations. They used to give tours through it, and even though it is not longer operating, the refinery and the sound of its 4p.m. whistle remain alive in my memory.
