Most people are born with an “itchy feet” or the desire to travel. This is natural since there are really a lot of wonderful places waiting to be experienced. However, you don’t just pack and go when the desire hits you, especially if the trip involves going abroad. You also have to consider your own safety as you plan your travel.
In order to feel secure on your trip you have to:
1. Make sure all your legal documents are in order – passport and visas. It will also be ideal to have them photocopied in case you lose the original.
2. Study the travel information about the place you plan to visit.
3. Be aware of the local laws and way of living of the county where you intend to go.
4. Inform your family or friends of your itinerary so that they will be able to contact you if there’s a need.
5. Keep an eye on your luggage at all times especially if you’re in a public place.
6. Avoid carrying large amount of cash or credit cards in order to avert being an object of crime and do not wear eye-catching clothing and jewelry.
7. Transact only with authorized persons when it comes to money matters.
8. Know where your country’s embassy is located so that you will know where to go if you get in dire trouble in the place you visited.
For sure you’ll be able to enjoy your trip more when you know that you are safe from harm. Happy trip!
