Where to go for the World’s Best Ice Creams

July is National Ice Cream Month! If you find yourself craving for ice cream while starting to get itchy feet, why not travel to some place where you can satisfy both your desire for ice cream and traveling? Wouldn’t it be a cool way to spend your summer vacation?

Where to go? Here are some tips for you. Travel Channel names these places in US as the best ice cream parlors: Ron's Gourmet Ice Cream in Hyde Park, Massachusetts; Lizzy's Homemade Ice Cream in Waltham, Massachusetts; and Peter's Homemade Ice Cream Parlor and Coffeehouse in Brooklyn, New York.

If you want to travel farther and savor yummy and uniquely flavored ice creams, you might want to go to these countries:

1. Turkey – Tradition of eating ice cream in Turkey goes back to the ancient times. Get a taste of their earliest ice cream “karsambac,” which is made of fresh snow with molasses. There’s also the exceptional tough and sticky ice cream called “Dondurma” of Kahramanmaras, a city in southeastern Turkey. Its main ingredient is called “salep.”

2. Italy – Ice creams are traditional desserts in Italy; the most popular are called “gelato,” which are made of milk, eggs, sugar and flavorings.

3. Greece – Greeks have very unique ice cream flavors and ingredients. Some of their best ice creams are the “Pagoto Kaimaki,” with mastic-resin as main ingredient; Olive oil ice cream with figs; “Pagoto Loukoumi” with deep fried dough; “Pagoto Kataifi Chocolate” made of shredded fillo dough pastry; and “Mavrodaphne” Ice Cream made with Greek dessert wine.
