Cadbury Chocolate

Chocolate can make or break your travel experience. It melts before you can eat it in Hawaii; it gets old before you can buy it in France; and it will empty your wallet in Belgium. But in Ireland, my daughter and I discovered a well-kept secret: Cadbury makes a wide variety of chocolate bars available ONLY to the Irish and Brits: mint cookie chocolate bars, raspberry filled chocolate bars, Shortbread cookie dipped in chocolate and so many more. Why does Cadbury keep the good stuff from the US? It just ain’t right!

You don’t believe me? Fine – go to http://www.britishdelights.com/cadbury.htm and see what they’ve been keeping from us.

One should always carry chocolate throughout travel experiences. Some people take their chocolate with them. I prefer to budget for local chocolate purchases throughout my travels. Who knew that the Japanese make some of the world’s finest chocolate – and it’s available in all corner markets. Meiji uses on their chocolate-covered almonds a milk chocolate as smooth and creamy as any I’ve ever tasted. And believe me, I buy chocolate everywhere I go.

Surprisingly, I don’t gain weight when I travel, because I get lots more exercise than when I stay home and work; hence, the rule about chocolate and travel. Trust me on this one.

Hi,
I would like to correct something here, in Jordan we have all the ranges & kinds of Cadbury chocolate. Around 90% of the Cadbury items mentioned in the link are available in supermarkets & super stores in Jordan.

I love picking up local candy, no matter where I am in the world. You're eating local food, why not enjoy what the locals are munching on as a treat?

I love the Japanese candies - Meiji and Morinaga have great packaging, use high quality ingredients and the Dars Bitter chocolate is some of the best consumer chocolate I've had.

I've had some of the UK Cadbury treats but I've not been terribly impressed. The powdered milk flavor positively overwhelms the natural chocolate flavor. However, I love their Curly-Wurly bar. I get my UK treats, oddly enough, at the local Indian market.

Thanks for adding your comments on chocolate. It truly is a universal flavor, isn't it? Everyone has their favorite -- I have enjoyed reading about them.
