Frankfurt is the birthplace of Goethe, the cradle of German democracy has nightlife to rival Berlin. There is so much more to Frankfurt than just a busy airport.
The story of Frankfurt begins afresh at the end of the Second World War. It had to be rebuilt economically and spiritually, and many of the city’s destroyed buildings had t o be reconstructed; modern architecture is now the most spectacular proof of Frankfurt’s post war revival.
Frankfurt overflows with world-famous landmarks, such as the Alte Oper (Old Opera House), Oper Frankfurt (New Frankfurt Opera House), Romerberg (Old Town Square) and Paulskirche (Church of Saint Paul).

The People of Frankfurt are very proud of their famous son, Johann Wolfgang Goethe; one of the greatest figures of world literature, the poet, dramatist, novelist and scientist Goethe spoke French, Italian, English, Latin, Greek and Hebrew and was also an accomplished musician.
Although Frankfurt can’t compete with Paris or New York for the quantity and variety of its fashion boutiques, it’s still a fun place to spend money and at least compared with London or Copenhagen, relatively inexpensive.
As for the food, traditional German food is very hearty, as long as you like lots of meat, bread, potatoes, gherkins and pickled cabbage. Otherwise Frankfurt has an internationally diverse range of restaurants.
