Costa Rica Ecological Travel

Costa Rica Rain Forest

Costa Rica is located in South America, south of Nicaragua and north of Panama. Its capitol is called San Jose. A series of volcanoes and mountains runs through the country and separates the Caribbean Sea to the east from the Pacific Ocean on the west.

While Costa Rica lies completely in the tropics, the extreme variations in elevation set it apart from other tropical climates. The months from December to April are generally considered the "dry season", or summer, while winter, the "wet season", falls between May and November.

Costa Rica has 12 different climatic zones; each of the zones is distinctive with diverse natural vegetation and ecosystems. The variety of climate and topography combine to make Costa Rica home to a vast array of flora and fauna; about five percent of all known species on earth can be found in the forests of Costa Rica.

Costa Rica Toucan

A rain forest adventure is one of the “must” activities to do when in Costa Rica as a part of what is called “Ecotourism”, which is responsible travel to natural areas that conserves the environment and sustains the well being of local people. Bird Watching is also a treat for the interested, where it is a unique opportunity to catch a glance at the rarest birds on the planet, added to the excitement of identifying the types of birds and the species. The Toucan is one of the world's most beautiful birds, and is a sight that is worth seeing.
