Toshiba Camera Sensor: Capture First, Focus Later

Toshiba is planning to reinvent the camera sensors used in smartphones and tablets! According to a report by Asahi Shimbun, Toshiba is intending to create camera sensors that function like the Lytro light field camera that allow users to capture an image first then focus later.
But unlike the Lytro camera, Toshiba’s soon-coming creation will be much smaller in order to fit into smartphones and tablets. The company will also be using 500,000 lenses having 0.03mm diameter. This will be integrated in front of a sensor that is around 5mm and 7mm in size.

Toshiba Shows Off 13.3-inch Dummy Tablet

Device makers always innovate in order to stay on top of the competition. Consumers are always on the lookout for something new, something better and that’s what they have to deliver. Toshiba is among these makers because it’s only been a few days since they announced their 7.7-inch quad-core tablet at the MWC and yet it seems they are already working on a 13.3-inch slate!
PocketLint was able to experience the 13.3-inch Toshiba tablet at the Toshiba 2012 conference in the UK. But I guess it wasn’t much of an experience because the device was just a dummy unit and was completely non-functional! Not much is known about its technical specifications except that it will reportedly run on Tegra 3 quad-core processor.
Toshiba Reveals Amazing Waterproof Tablet!

If I had a $400 tablet or even a $199 tablet I’d be very afraid to use it in the pool or tub lest I drop it! That’s still gonna be hard-earned money down the drain! I’ve never heard of a waterproof tablet until Toshiba demoed one at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas!
Toshiba displayed the innovative device inside an aquarium full of water at CES. There’s no better way to make people believe it’s waterproof than actual proof! And to show that it’s still functioning, Toshiba made it play a movie while submerged in the water. Take note, even though it’s under water, the screen is very clear and displays vibrant colors!
Toshiba Excite X10 World’s Thinnest Tablet is 7.7mm Thick!

Is Toshiba out to conquer the tablet and ultrabook markets? It would seem so after the company announced what it claims to be the “world’s thinnest and lightest” tablet and ultrabook last week! Last week’s reports stated that Toshiba will ne unleashing a 10.1-inch tablet and a 13.3-inch ultrabook at the 2012 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
Although CES officially starts on the 10th, Toshiba’s new tablet has already been unveiled! Toshiba definitely has the right to claim that they have the world’s thinnest tablet because the newly-unveiled Excite X10 is merely 7.7mm thick! It may sound unbelievable but it’s true. Toshiba X10 sure beats the iPad 2 which is 8.8mm thick! It is also very light since it’s made of magnesium alloy instead of titanium.
Glasses-Free Toshiba Regza 55X3 Available in Japan on December 10

Want 3D TV viewing minus the troublesome glasses? Toshiba has announced the launch of its new REGZA 55X3 3D TV with 4K resolution! This is a 55-inch TV that delivers 3D entertainment without the need for 3D glasses!
This Toshiba 3D TV boasts a Quad Full HD 4096 x 2160-pixel resolution display. It also comes with the face tracking technology that adjusts the screen’s resolution based on the viewer’s location. However, when adjustment is made, the resolution drops to 720p. Inside the REGZA 55X3 also is the CEVO Engine processing platform.
Toshiba Unveils New 7-inch Thrive Tablet

There’s a latest addition to Toshiba’s Thrive line of tablets! If you want a Thrive tablet, there’s now a 7-inch model to choose from! The Toshiba Thrive 7” has a true HD display with 1280 x 800-pixel resolution which means 225 pixels per inch. This display promises excellent performance since it is equipped with AutoBrite, Adaptive Display and Resolution+ technology.
Aside from that, the Thrive 7” is powered by a dual-core Nvidia Tegra 2 CPU with 1GB memory. Storage comes in either 16GB or 32GB configuration. On top of this is Android 3.2 Honeycomb operating system.
Toshiba FlashAir: Flash Card with Wi-Fi

IFA 2011 in Berlin is saturated with new laptops, tablets, and phones, so Toshiba’s new device is like a breath of fresh air. The company revealed a new first: a Flash memory card that is equipped with Wi-Fi! The device named FlashAir has built-in wireless LAN functionality. As you all know, Flash memory cards are prevalently used in cameras, cellphones and even tablets.
Slimmer Toshiba Tablet to Debut at IFA

You might want to hold your horses if you intend to buy a Toshiba Thrive tablet. You see, a new tablet from Toshiba might be around the corner! Photos of a new and slimmer tablet conveniently made its way to Notebook Italia. The website labeled the new tablet as thinner and lighter!
Not much was mentioned regarding the internal specification of the new Toshiba Tablet; although some say it’s going to get its power from a dual-core 1.5GHz OMAP 4460 processor.
Mango Phone Toshiba-Fujitsu IS12T Unveiled!

The first Mango device has been unveiled in Japan! Although the Toshiba-Fujitsu IS12T has been made public, it’s still going to be some time before this handset becomes available. September is the announced time of release.
Aside from having the Windows Phone 7.5 Mango OS, the IS12T comes with a huge 3.7-inch screen with 800 x 480-pixel resolution. Powering it up is Qualcomm’s 1GHz MS8655 processor. Youll have plenty of storage to tuck content in since it packs 32GB internal memory. Connectivity includes Bluetooth 2.1 +EDR, Wi-Fi, and GPS.
