Mozilla Releases Firefox 3.0 Beta
Mozilla Corp. is moving on to their new browser. On Monday the company launched the Mozilla 3.0 beta. However, ordinary users like myself are being warned to stay using the Firefox 2.0. The Firefox 3.0 beta is recommended for developers as well as testers. The application can be downloaded to Mac OS X, Linux 21 as well as Windows. Mozilla’s interface designer Mike Beltzner revealed that the Firefox 3.0 carries many improvements. These improvements pertain to the speed, security and convenient usage.
Mozilla Getting Serious on Mobile Browser
There are a lot of web browsers nowadays and I can’t say that I’ve had the pleasure of trying out all of them… and you know that browsers are not only being used for the PC, they’re being integrated into mobile devices as well. To be more competitive Mozilla Corp. is developing another mobile browser. The Mobile Firefox is already in progress now, Mozila having hired 2 new developers to assist in the venture. These two are Christian Sejersen from Openwire Systems Inc. and Brad Lassey from France Telecom R&D.
IBM’s Free Lotus Symphony Tools

Hitachi Offers New Higher Performance Hard Drive

Mozilla Releases New Security Patch

After the vulnerabilities cited about the Firefox browser, Thunderbird email client and Seamonkey application suite, Mozilla has now acted accordingly in addressing this pressing problem. A new security update which they termed as critical update was issued just last Tuesday by Mozilla. This new security update will address the eight security holes seen in the said applications. Users of the aforementioned applications are urged to acquire this security patch so that exploitation or abuse of personal information can be avoided. Additionally, Mozilla also advices users to abstain from using JavaScript in the Thunderbird and SeaMonkey to steer clear of further security breach.
The Hype of Skype TV

Janus Friis and Niklas Zennstrom, the guys who brought you the Internet calling program Skype, are now taking their abandoned son to the next level: Video.
They sold Skype last year to eBay and now they've invested $2.5 billion into a new internet TV station which will use P2P technology and broadcast in near high-definition quality over the net. The TV channels will be free of course and they will be making money from advertisers. Everyone wins. So far, no big TV stations have shown interest which maybe due to loose control they would have over the content, or maybe no control at all.
Currently 6,000 people are testing the service which is expected to be launched next year.
Adobe Photoshop CS3 Now Available

Adobe Systems, the number one in the world when it comes to digital media manipulation, has introduced the beta version of Adobe Photoshop CS3 software Last Thursday.
The company is delivering the product to everyone! And when I say everyone I mean, Mac users as well as Windows and also, it will be Vista compatible.
“Adobe has never taken a major product and made it available in this way. It’s a water shed event, but we want to show dedication to the Mac platform,” John Nack, Senior Product Manager for Adobe Photoshop said.
Microsoft IE 7 Now Available

You wanted it “easier and more secure” so here it is the Microsoft Internet Explorer 7 RC1. It’s not yet the final product, but it’s almost like the final version set to be completed before the year’s end said Microsoft. This pre-release IE 7 boasts improved design and security features that would offer users a seamlessly more enjoyable web browsing experience.
Among the updates found in the IE 7 Release Candidate 1 is the tabbed browsing capability similar to the Mozilla Firefox browser. This allows more convenient browsing as you can now see all open tabs in a single view and classify different tabs into one group.
Release of MS Office 2007 Postponed

Microsoft was supposed to launch the MS Office 2007 last March but slated it in October in time with the launching of the Windows Vista, an improved operating system offering an intuitive design and more productivity to its users. Yesterday, however, Microsoft informed the public that it won’t launch yet the new Microsoft Office 2007 in October as earlier scheduled. It hopes to release it sometime later this year while it plans to make Office upgrades available for everyone early next year.
Linux 2.6.17 is Released

A new Linux release is available, Linux 2.6.17. This release includes support for Sun Niagara CPUs, it has a new I/O mechanism called 'splice' which will improve the performance for some applications. Other changes on this release include a New scheduler domain which optimizes CPU scheduling decisions for multi-core CPUs, driver for the widely used broadcom 43xx wifi chip, iptables support for the H.323 protocol, CCID2 support for DCCP, softmac layer for the wireless stack, block queue IO tracing, Raid5 reshaping support, Updates for JFS, ALSA, NFS, V4L/DVB (many new devices added), and many bugfixes and minor updates.

Firefox 2.0 Alpha

Next Tuesday, Firefox 2.0 Alpha is set for release.
According to the Mozzila development team, this new Alpha version of Firefox focuses on improving access and ease of use for Web site history and bookmarks, especially improve the capabilities of Live Bookmarks, but it's still a long way until the real thing is fully developed.
On the other hand, the final release of Firefox 2.0 is expected in the third quarter of this year.
