Tech N Gadgets: Portable Media

ZVUE Spirit

You can now show your patriotism in an entirely new way with the ZVUE Spirit. The ZVUE Spirit is an MP3 player swathed in an American flag! Yup, no one can mistake the red, blue and white combination for anything else other than the American flag. Another highlight of this device is the star-shaped navigation pad. And speaking of patriotism, this MP3 device is installed with 15 songs all having a patriotic theme. Well, listening to them will be something of a change. Anyway, this device is on the tiny side with 2” x 1 3/8” x 3/5” dimensions, so it will easily fit in your pocket.

Diamond iPod

Definitely an eye-candy! But once again, I just have to content myself to admiring this Diamond iPod Shuffle since it is impossible for me to get one. It is beyond my reach and yours too if I can guess it right. The whole gadget is plastered with genuine diamonds that makes it worthy to have a price tag of £20,000! This is really very attractive because it is decorated with 18K white and pink gold as well as 430 diamonds. Only the rich can afford to buy this Diamond iPod.

SanDisk 8GB Cruzer Fleur

I think I’ve already mentioned the different benefits offered by flash drives in my previous posts. But to recap them a little bit, flash drives are quite handy for storing videos, documents, music and other kinds of files with you wherever you want to go. But you know something else? A Flash drive doesn’t have to be all about functionality. It can also be about your style and your personality. For girls out there the SanDisk 8GB Cruzer Fleur USB drive could be the thing to show-off your ultra feminine side.

Handheld Sony Bravia TV

If you think Sony is only capable of handling handheld game consoles, then you’re outright wrong! Sony is getting ready to launch Bravia TV handheld version. Target date for the release is April of this year. So how would you take that?! Even if the previously released Sony Bravia LCD TV is excellent, there are still a lot of people who did not opt to buy because of its price, and it cannot just be carried anywhere. Creating a mini-version of the Bravia LCD is a genius idea, especially for people out there who want portable entertainment on the go.

Flash drives are already aplenty these days so a newly released flash drive has to contain a unique feature in order to get noticed. Well, with SanDisk, the name alone is enough to stir interest, and what more with the unique capability offered by their new Cruzer Titanium Plus USB flash drive. We all know that flash drives are used for storing documents, photos, etc., and that these data just stays there unless you choose to delete or transfer it. Aside from storage function, the Cruzer Titanium Plus USB is also capable of automatically backing up the digital data to the Internet. Backing up will made through a web service offered by BeInSync Company.

Gemei Portable Media Player

I saw another portable media player, which looks very attractive that I can’t help but write about it. Well, at least it looks really attractive to my eyes, I don’t know if you’ll like it too. This gizmo I’m talking about is the X590 from Chinese electronics company Gemei. The X590 is a portable media player that’s aimed for the US market. As you can see from the picture this X590 PMP looks quite competitive. First thing to notice about this thing is the 2.5-inch color screen that looks so alive with its 16 million comprising colors. And take note, on both sides of the screen you’ll see some interesting buttons. This strategic location of buttons indicates that the X590 is also meant for some gaming. It has game emulation support. It’s quite striking with its sleek and slim design in gleaming black and silver.

Insignia Pilot 4GB Video MP3 Player

I’m quite sure that you love your iPod Nano with its handiness and massive storage. But if you cast your eyes in another direction you’ll see that there are also other deals that are just as good… if not better! Take for example this Insignia Pilot 4GB Video MP3 Player with Bluetooth Technology. But take note that this device is not only meant for MP3’s but also for videos and photos. Can you spot the big difference it has from the iPod Nano? It’s glaringly obvious; this Insignia Pilot MP3 Player has Bluetooth while the iPod doesn’t! So with this built-in Bluetooth you can enjoy your music minus the wires. Of course you should use the compatible Bluetooth headset. And you know what’s more? This MP3 Player features an SD Card slot for additional storage if you really want to store all the songs there is. That means more room for your music, photos and videos, aside from the internal 4GB storage. And if you get tired listening to pure music and would like some chatter in your ears, you can switch to the FM radio feature, with its 20 preset stations.

80GB Zune

I believe the iPod now really has a tough competitor in the new Zune. Yes Microsoft recently released the new 80GB version of the Zune. Its 80Gb capacity is more than enough to hold all of your favorite songs and then some. Those who are thinking of buying an iPod but are still having second thoughts about it will get even more confused with the unleashing of the 80GB Zune. Aside from the ample storage capacity, the 80GB Zune is stylishly designed with an almost same size as the apple’s iPod Nano. The 80GB Zune is 4.3 inches high, 2.4 inches wide and 0.5 inch thick. Aside from the size, another great improvement is the navigation control that is fondly referred to as Zune Pad.

Toshiba Gigabeat U-Series Portable music players

Portable music players are still very much in demand these days. A lot of people are looking for this kind of gadget that comes synonymous with quality and affordability. Aside from Zune, iPod and Sansa, Toshiba’s Gigabeat is another option. And you are given a wider choice with the announcement of the new Toshiba U-Series Portable Media Player. This series has three new players namely the U104, U205 and the U206. The U104 is available with 1GB storage capacity while the U205 and U206 comes in 2GB capacity. It’s not a lot of storage compared to the previous Gigabeat T400.

Sansa View

It’s not yet that long when Sandisk unveiled the Sansa Clip music player that challenges the iPod Shuffle, yet here they are again challenging the Apple’s iPod Nano with the all-new Sansa View! This is also a music player right after your own heart possessing attractive look, not that gorgeous, if I may say so since it only comes in black. Sansa View MP3 is slim and tall featuring 2.4-inch widescreen display where not only the names of tunes can be displayed but also photos and full motion video. Giving more character to this device is the big backlit scroll wheel.

The Zune 2

The popularity of portable music players never stops. And even with the tough competition among the developers not one wants to be left behind, no one more than Microsoft and their Zune. Microsoft introduces a new and improved Zune music player just for you. They come in two varieties actually, the Zune 2 and the Zune Flash. By its entire look the new Zunes have a really improved design. And there’s even an interesting controller so evident on its surface.

If Apple has the iPod Shuffle as their smallest MP3 player, SanDisk has recently uncovered the device that will rival it, and it is in the form of the Sansa Clip. Seemingly the same size as the iPod Shuffle, Sansa Clip is 55 x 34 x 16.5 mm and a very light 26g weight! But want to know the difference? Sansa Clip has a greater advantage because it features an OLED display. It is one of its great features if I may say so because users can easily see the song playing and select from the playlists. Aside from this particular feature Sansa Clip has a built-in FM tuner with recording ability. However, you will also see that its controls are somewhat similar to the iPod Shuffle.

Flash Padlock USB Drive

We can sometimes be forgetful of the things we own and take around with us. Well, it sure happens to me most of the time, maybe to you too. But just picture this, what if you lost your USB flash drive and it just so happens that you have stored in there some valuable information? Maybe a lot of business people worry about things like this. Good thing Corsair read your mind that’s why they launched the new Flash Padlock line of 2.0 USB drives.

Mimoco Flash Drives

Fed up with the plain old USB that you use for storing some documents in? How about a Mimobot? Nope, it’s not a robot but a USB with a character of its own! Back in 2005, mimobot Core Series was released and after 2 years a Core Series 2 flash drive finally made its way back in the market. 9 new characters are added to the previous line. All 9 of them just look so adorable! And they come in a variety of colors that are just so great to look at.
