Nokiaís Lumia 800 handset is not among the handsets that will receive the Windows Phone 8 operating system. This, I think is a sad thing. But itís all bad news for the Nokia Lumia 800 because this handset will soon be at the receiving end of the Windows Phone 7.8 update a.k.a. Tango!
Microsoft and Nokia have unveiled two new Windows Phone 8 devices that Iím sure a lot of you would want to check out! The Lumia 920 is the latest flagship Windows Phone 8 handset that comes with superbly advanced features. Thereís also its little brother the Lumia 820 phone.
The new Lumia 920 is an awesome-looking phone with 4.5-inch PureMotion HD+ display technology and 1280 x 768-pixel resolution. Its Snapdragon S4 processor brings fast performance without taking too much toll on the battery. This is matched by 1GB of RAM.
I think Nokia has just found a way to endear its Lumia 900 Windows Phone to the ladies. How you ask? By making it available in hot pink color! The Nokia Lumia 900 is currently available only in black, white and cyan, colors that cater to both the sexes. But with pink, well, itís clearly meant for the ladies. But if youíre a male who canít resist the color pink, you can get it too from AT&T!
According to a recent announcement from AT&T, the pink Lumia 900 will be available from their store starting July 15. Wow thatís just five days away so you donít have to wait long. Those interested in the pink Lumia 900 can get it for $99.99 with a two-year contract. Itís the same price and contract as its Lumia 900 siblings.
Patent infringement trouble is not only limited to Apple and Samsung, it seems Nokia is calling out Google and Asus on the same issue with their newly-launched Nexus 7 tablet.
According to reports, the infringement has something to do with the IEEE 802.11 WiFi standard. A spokesperson from Nokia said that their company has more than 40 licensees including a lot of mobile device makers who pay for the privilege of using their technology but Google and Asus are not among them.
Sad news for Nokia employees! The Finnish company has announced that it will cut off as many as 10,000 jobs all over the world! It will also close down some of its plants in order to cut down costs and make its operations more efficient.
Some of the plants that will be closed down include those in Germany and Canada. Even the main plant in Finland doesnít go unhurt. It will only be retained for the purpose of research and development operations.
If you are among the many that are waiting for the launch of the first Windows Phone 8, I think youíre in luck! You wonít have to wait for it until next year after all! If rumors are to be believed that is. This latest bit about the Windows Phone 8 is considered a rumor since it didnít come from Nokia.
Nokiaís distributor in Israel, Eurocom, told the Israeli publication Techit.co.il that the new Windows Phone 8 will actually be in the market before the year ends!
Nokia wants the unconnected to be connected at all times to the Internet hence the Finnish company has unveiled two new handsets that will make that possible. Hail the new dual-SIM Nokia 110 and Nokia 112!
These two new handsets have 1.8-inch display, VGA camera, microSD card slot that support up to 32GB Bluetooth, FM radio and long battery life.
The hardware doesnít sound much right? But Nokia compensates by giving the 110 and 112 great Internet and entertainment advantage. You see, both handsets have Nokia Browser that allows smooth access to the Internet especially Facebook, Twitter, and other social networks. They also have access to the Nokia Store so consumers can easily choose from thousands of apps to download.
Earlier this week, Nokiaís message board was bombarded with complaints that their Nokia Lumia 900 handsets donít have Internet connectivity. The problemís too vital to ignore hence was immediately checked out by Nokia. They were able to trace the problem and have provided a solution!
According to Nokia, the loss of data connectivity was due to a software issue and they are going to roll out an update that will fix the problem. Affected Lumia 900 owners can avail of the software update on or around April 16.
Nokia surprised the world when it unveiled the 808 PureView phone that boasts an amazing 41-pixels sensor and Carl Zeiss lenses. However, many were disappointed that Nokia chose to match it with a Symbian OS instead of Windows OS. But it looks like thereís still hope for the those who are hoping the PureView concept will make its way to a Windows Phone.
If the rumors are true, you folks should watch out for the Lumia PureView! Since itís a Lumia phone, you can rest assured that it runs on Windows platform.
Finally! The long-awaited Nokia Lumia 900 handset will be arriving stateside this April 8! Mark that day on your calendar if you want to be among the first to get this Windows Phone! Take note that it will be exclusively available from AT&T. You can get it for just $99.99 with contract of course.
Now, if you want to make sure that youíll receive the first wave of Nokia Lumia 900 you can pre-order the device starting March 30 at any AT&T store.
Finnish company Nokia is taking vibrating alert to a whole new level! Instead of feeling the vibration while having the close to your body, phone owners will soon sense it through a tattoo! Nokia filed for patent for the said technology at the US Patent and Trademark Office.
This new technology, invented by Zoran Radivojevic of Cambridge, is a vibrating magnetic tattoo that is composed of ferromagnetic material that is attached to the human skin. Thereís a process that needs to be followed for the tattoo to work efficiently.
No longer satisfied with the photography capability of your phone? Then perhaps the newly-unveiled Nokia 808 PureView is what youíve been waiting for! This is a new camera phone that is equipped with an astounding 41 megapixels! This is even higher than Nikon D800ís 36 megapixel sensor!
Nokia is sticking to Carl Zeiss lenses and Xenon flash so this camera is capable of shooting 7728 x 5368 in 16:9 format but users can also program it to 4:3 in 7152 x 5368. The camera is also capable of recording video in 1080p. Aside from the super high sensor, the Nokia 808 PureView has a unique ďover samplingĒ feature that compresses 7 pixels into 1 pixel for a highly-detailed image.
The N9 handset is one of the best devices Nokia ever made. But sadly, the MeeGo OS device did not flourish as expected. Still, itís a very promising phone with its amazing 3.9-inch AMOLED Capacitive screen, 8MP camera with Carl Zeiss optics and 1GHz TI OMAP Cortex A8 CPU and 1GB RAM.
Many developers think it has potential too if the OS was changed to something better. Alexey Roslyakov, a developer of the NITDroid team, tried doing just that! He posted some photos on Twitter of his little handiwork of loading the N9 with the latest Android Ice Cream Sandwich!
It seems that Symbian owners donít have to worry because Nokia hasnít forgotten them. In fact, Nokia might be releasing the much-needed Belle update to the existing Symbian Anna operating system! Although rumors regarding this matter have been around for some time, there was actually no mention of the exact date of release!
However, Nokiaís Vietnam office accidentally published that the rumored Nokia Symbian Belle will be launched on February 8, 2012! You canít see the page now because itís been removed already. Luckily though, some websites were able to get a screenshot of the said page!
