Thin is still in as far as notebooks are concerned. MSI for one has proven that the competition for the thin and light notebook is not over yet with its launch of the new MSI X600. Take note that this particular model is only for sale in the U.S. at the moment. It’s on sale right now at Amazon and Newegg for $800. The MSI X600, however, is a contradiction to the market that it wants to conquer. I don’t know what you think of 2.5-kilos for a supposedly thin and light notebook because that’s how heavy the MSI X600 is.

MSI has five new affordable and reasonable laptops for you. All the laptops are intended for the Classic C Series line. All of them seem to provide reasonable capabilities as they sport 16 and 17-inch screens. Two out of the five – CX600 and tCX700 – are aimed at gamers who are looking for affordable yet capable gaming laptops. Both of them are equipped with ATi Mobility Radeon HD4330 graphics card that has 512 megabytes of video memory. They differ in the display because the CX600 has a 16-inch screen with 1366 x 768 pixel resolution while the CX700 has 17.3-inch screen with 1600 x 900 pixels.

Can’t get enough of the Transformers saga? Well, these new Transformers-inspired laptops will surely extend that enthusiasm you have. Two new models – the G51Vx and the G60Vx- bear an unmistakable Transformers design on their casing. They also have a backlit keyboard and an attractive lighting right on their LCD frame. Making these laptops even more robot-like to look at is its casing that’s made in pure white with metallic grey glossy finish!

Just when we thought netbooks can’t get any more revolutionary, Asus unveils the first netbook with swivel screen. Day 1 at the Consumer Electronics Show, Asus introduced the 8.9-inch EeePC T91 and the 10-inch EeePC T101H. These two new models by Asus were shown to have a touch screen feature and they both operate using Windows XP with a modified GUI. In particular, the T91 is integrated with Intel Atom Z520 processor (Silverthorne core). It is approximately 225mm x 164mm x 25.2-28.4mm in size. It’s actually very light at 2.2 pounds. The T101H on the other hand is installed with the N270 chip with Diamondville core. Basically, these two netbooks have almost similar features. Both will be available in black and white. Well, it’s going to be interesting to have netbooks with swivel screens! There’s still no price quote for these EeePCs.

Here’s a new laptop to make gaming addicts want to replace their old PCs. Make way for Alienware’s new M17! This gaming laptop is installed with ATI graphics with a multi-GPU CrossfireX option. It operates using the Intel Core 2 Extreme QX9300, the first quad-core processor by Intel. It also makes use of two Mobility Radeons HD 3870s and a video memory of up to 1GB. All of these features make the M17 a truly aggressive gaming laptop!

Enjoyable gaming is provided by this M17 laptop because of its 17-inch display. Yup, it provides superb 1920 x 1200 resolution display ideal for Blue-ray Disc and HD video playback. Yesterday, Lenovo launched a new series of notebooks that caters to Small to Medium-sized Business establishments. Lenovo has three new models under the SL series of ThinkPads. Business owners who want an excellent performing machine at a reasonable price can choose among the SL300, SL400, and SL500. Their names are just easy to remember as you can see. They are encased in a glossy black cover that gives them a classy look. Once you lift the lid, you’ll uncover the ThinkPad keyboard and the Trackpoint. Webcam, Bluetooth, WWAN and optional Blu-ray recordable drive are also found in the laptop. Data recovery and online backup and on-site warranty are features that are really ideal for business owners.

I’ve only recently heard that there’s a company that named Gigabyte that makes laptops. Actually, I only stumbled on a picture of the product. Gigabyte’s product is none other than the Netbook M912V which is a tablet PC having an 8.9-inch screen that swivels! From its screen size you can assume that it is a mini-laptop. I think the great feature about this is its swivel screen that can be moved at 180 degrees and it is also a touchscreen. Mounted right on the lid is a built-in 1.3-megapixel web cam. Since the screen can be swiveled it will be easy to capture videos or still shots at any angle.

Two new laptops have been unveiled by Hewlett-Packard. The HP Compaq 6735b and 6535b are the two latest models to be installed with the new AMD Puma platform. These two new laptop models are meant for business purposes thus are built to fit the function. The HP Compaq 6735b is a 15.4-inch laptop much bigger than the 14.1-inch 6536b. Both these laptops have almost similar configurations. In terms of processor, you have a choice whether you’ll go for AMD Turion X2, Athlon X2, or X2 Ultra. And what’s built-in include the ATI Radeon HD 3200 graphic card and an amazing 8GB RAM.

Hard drive storage is already ample I think. 160GB is more than enough for storing important files. Aside from that, it comes with a DVD burner or an optional HDD. The ample screens provide a WXGA resolution that comes with BrightView and anti-glare options.

Here’s another high-powered gaming laptop for you if you want it. The Cizmo CX1730M is the latest offering of Germany-based Company Cizmo. I say it is high-powered because it comes equipped with an Intel Centrino2 processor. This new laptop features a 17-inch screen that will serve well for any task that you need to do there. One of its specifications is the Intel X9100 Extreme processor running at 3.06 GHz and a DDR3 standard memory. Another is the PM45 chipset.

The Computex electronics show is an exciting event that shouldn’t be missed. Why? Well, simply because this is an event where new and exciting gizmos get unveiled. MSI of Micro-Star International is one of the companies that unveiled new products. Two of its amazing products are the Wind mini-desktop PC and the Wind mini-laptop. Both of these new MSI products proudly boast of the new Atom microprocessor from Intel. If you are thinking of replacing your existing computer these can be something you’d like to consider.

Maybe it is the popularity of its Eee PC that impelled Asustek Computer to create new line ultraportable laptops. One of the models unveiled was the Eee PC 901. This new model is also based on Intel’s forthcoming Atom processor. Just like the original Ee PC, the PC 901 is also just made for personal and limited use. Here are its features:

So there are these new ideas going around that 95% of the children in the world do not have access to the internet and so there has been a rush to develop a cheap device with which this generation of kids can delve into the realms of the World Wide Web. Intel has obviously cashed in on this releasing its Second Generation Classmate which runs on a simple six cell battery. The specs on this device are good considering its intended use: 7- to 9”, 512MB memory and a 30GB disk and it has been created so governments can hand these so called netbooks to children to further their education.

What’s with thin? You and I know that thin is in among women, but does it really to extend to notebooks and laptops? First the MacBook Air, then Lenovo with its ThinkPad X300. Following in these computer makers’ footstep is Samsung with its P200 notebook. Samsung really designed this laptop for the businessman who needs just something lightweight to take with him on his business trips. The Samsung P200 seems ideal since it only weighs 1.89 kilograms and is 12.2-inches long. Since it is designed for travel, Samsung equipped it with a Protect-o-Edge exterior and a Protect-o-Softgrip to safeguard the notebook’s surfaces.
