500GB Massive Hard Drive by Hitachi
It is already mind-boggling to have a disk space capacity as big as 160GB so what more if you have 500GB of space?! Man, oh man, it’s kind of hard to think what files and other stuff can be kept in that massive space. 500GB is equivalent to movies, mp3s, games and others that you can hardly have time to explore. Your dream of having this kind disk capacity is now within reach with the newly announced 500GB mobile hard drive from Hitachi Global Storage Technologies. This kind of disk capacity is more than enough for personal use. Chopped down into the kinds of files that can be stored you can have 178 movies, 500 hours of digital videos, 250 games or 125,000 songs, WOW!
Marvell and its Power-Saving Chip

One of the problems that come with using PCs and notebooks is the high electricity bill. It’s a fact that these devices use up considerable amount of energy in order to work. But because the PC and other electronic devices are already a part of our everyday life and work the high electricity bill at the end of the month is something that cannot be helped. But Marvell MRVL says they have the solution to this problem. They have come up with a chip that can reduce power consumption to almost half of the usual use. The new chip is actually an AC-DC power conversion controller chip or smart power device.
Samsung Unveils Fastest Solid-State Drive

There is another new hard drive from Samsung. The 1.8-inch and 2.5-inch 64 Gigabyte solid-state drives (SSD) are now said to be the fastest in the industry. It has a very fast SATA or Serial ATA II or native SATA interface. This new hard drive makes use of a 51-nanometer class technology that can deliver 100 megabits per second of write speed and a corresponding 120MB read speed. This new drives opens up better opportunities for computing because of the features that are way above the traditional rotating drives. In order to work well, it also makes use of a single-level-cell 8GB flash chip.
Iomega Releases Hard Drives for Home Use
Data storage hardware developer Iomega based in San Diego unveiled their latest batch of drives that is aimed for home network use. Since it is for such market the drives are dubbed as “Home Network Hard Drives”. The 320GB, 360GB and 500GB capacities would seem ample enough storage for household use. Making the drives functional is the 7200rpm hard drive with 8MB cache and 10/100 Ethernet jack. These Iomega hard drives would be great to use for sharing and keeping different types of contents including photos, music and videos.
Sun Microsystems’ Fast UltraSPARC T2 Chip

There are several companies that are into developing better-performing chips. It’s already a kind of a race for them all and getting ahead is Sun Microsystems Inc. because of their newly developed chip that they say will bring about a new line of business. This innovation is called the UltraSPARC T2, which is even more powerful and fast than what Sun has produced before. The characteristic of the UltraSPARC T2 is that it is an eight-core, 64-thread microprocessor.
Western Digital Reveals Greener Hard Drives
Technological company Western Digital revealed their latest GreenPower Initiative – the latest line of hard drives that leans towards the greener side. Greener because the hard drives are provided with the capacity to save up to 40% of power, which when you convert to your yearly power bill could be up to $10. This greener drives will include encompass desktop, enterprise, consumer electronics and external applications with sizes of 320GB up to 1TB.
Intel Goes for Total Lead-Free Technology
It is already a common knowledge that the substance lead can be hazardous to human health. It not only debilitates a person’s health but at the worst level it can lead to death. A lot of company’s already phased-out the use of lead in their products and in the world of technology; Intel is joining the lead-free production of their processors.
IBM Breakthrough with Power6 Microprocessor
IBM has once again proven their capability in developing revolutionary solutions for the computing industry. What they have come up with recently has what it takes for improving the operations of industries that rely on microprocessors. The new Power6 chip is IBM’s latest creation which is dubbed as the world’s fastest microprocessor ever. And to make it even better and more appealing, the Power6 chip is also environment-friendly since it uses up less electricity. The power6 clocks in at 4.7GHz bearing an 8MB cache together with the 790 million transistors on its 65nm. Speed is guaranteed with the 300Gbps internal bandwidth provided for it. With its kind of speed IBM said it is capable of downloading the whole iTunes catalogue in a mere 66 seconds…amazing!
Better Performance with GeForce 8800 Ultra

The gaming world will sure be glad to know that Nvidia will soon be launching the graphics card that can perform 10-15 percent better than the ones being used at the present time, especially when compared to the previously released GeForce 8800 GTX card. Nvidia’s new GeForce 8800 Ultra will be several notches higher in performance because of the improved core, memory and shader clocks.
