Google’s Lively is now up and running. Now, what is Lively? This is actually a successor to “Second Life” and is a new social network where the user can create an avatar as well as a room or environment. Once these elements are created, the user can imbed it on any website he chooses, whether it’s on a blog and other networking sites like MySpace or Facebook. Lively presents a new way for people, especially young users, to connect.

With Lively, every web geek is offered a new arena to be creative starting from making his avatar. Oops, first things first, he has to sign up to Lively using a Google account, download a browser plug-in, then he’s ready to start creating the avatar. A template character is already provided, so he’ll just have to choose what kind of skin, eye color, hair color, and dress he’d like his avatar to have. There are even accessories to go with it to complete the look. After completing the avatar, a user can proceed to making the online spaces. Grassy meadows, five-room apartment, or desert islands are only some examples of the environments that can be made.

Here’s bad news for those of you who are already waiting with baited for the reported Gphone that was said to come out mid 2008. There has been a delay according to Google. So, it will not be out until the end of this year. There has been a bit of a hitch in the Gphone’s development. This awaited handset is not solely an effort of Google. Google is directly involved in designing the operating system; however, thirty other partners are also involved in the project in order for the handset to be more of what people need.

Google is now really expanding on its social networking initiative. The company recently launched the Google Friend Connect service which takes social networking and information transfer a level higher. Actually, this new service is aimed for anyone who owns a blog or website. By adding Google Friend Connect to your site you can make your blog more interactive as other users can leave comments and reviews. So, how is this added? Simple. You just have to give the required data and a resulting code will appear. Copy this code into your site and you’ll immediately have a sign-in system installed.

Though mobile Internet usage is still not that high, popular search engine, Google, is not taking any chances. The company recently announced that it is joining the fray on mobile advertising by introducing mobile banner ads. Google’s AdWords campaign can now also be seen in mobile Internet, so advertisers making use of this ad service can choose whether to use text only ads or banner ads.

Google Inc. recently acquired the DoubleClick Company. It is hoped that through this new venture Google will be able to bring an even better form of information dissemination and income opportunities for its users. They had signed a formal agreement to collaborate on a bunch of projects that could include virtual flyovers of the Moon. This could be cool to name: Google Moon! The project will also cover space and weather which will make data widely available on the Internet for us humans here on earth.
