Tech N Gadgets: Apple

iPod users will now have their fill of more music from iTunes because of the lowered prices of the songs Apple sells online. I’m sure that there are still a lot of iPod enthusiasts out there who are having hesitations in availing the songs sold without copy protection because of its price of $1.29. But with its price going down to 99 cents, well it’s already a bargain! So what prompted Apple to make this kind of move? Well, no other reason than the threat of the competition like Amazon. Since opening its music Store in September Amazon has sold songs with price ranging from 89 to 99 cents.

After the reports on iPhone hacking have been reported, Apple likewise issued warnings that the hacked or unlocked units could be damaged once their software update gets activated. Last week Apple announced that they would be releasing an update a software update that will allow users to buy music downloads via wireless means. True to their word, after the software update came out complaints have flooded the Internet that the iPhone they have no longer worked. Those that did not completely crash had some of their newly installed programs wiped out.

iPhone

The iPhone has been made to work with AT&T but you’ve read and heard that the iPhone can now be unlocked in order to work with other networks and service providers. However, those who have unlocked their iPhone using unauthorized means and even those who are still contemplating it have to be warned that doing so can cause irreparable damage to the phone. When the iPhone has been unlocked it will no longer work when Apple’s iPhone software update gets released. The software update that would be released by Apple this week would enable users to buy music downloads wirelessly.

iPhone

Many iPhone owners and even those who are just in the process of owning one are rejoicing for sure with the news that the iPhone has been hacked! A hacked iPhone can be used with other networks not just with AT&T, which is the currently the sole carrier. And through hacking, the iPhone can be used in other countries already, take for example in the UAE. Well, the iPhone is now being sold there but only through grey market retailers. And in order to use the phone you’d have to get a hacker and spend like $136 or 500 UAE dirhams in order to make it compatible with the networks operating there such as Etisalat and Du.

Strike while it’s hot seems to be Apple’s motto because finally there is a miniature version of iPhone! But it’s not really a phone; it only looks like the iPhone…It is actually a new generation of the iPod music player, called the iPod Touch. Would you agree that in a big way Apple capitalizes on the iPhone’s popularity when they used its design on the Touch? Well, I think so.

Anyway, the iPod Touch is definitely a must-have gadget again. If you ask why, it’s because it has a 3.5in touchscreen feature, which is very much alike to the iPhone. It’s saying goodbye to conventional controls and hello to finger flickin’ delight with the iPod Touch. This screen allows user to play videos and video games in a widescreen format.

iMac

After the iPod and the much-crazed-over iPhone, Apple unveiled a new series of iMac computers. This is to show that Apple Inc. is still on its top form when it comes to developing high quality computers. The new desktop computers come only with the 20 and 24-inch display housed in an aluminum and glass construction, which costs $1199 and $1799 respectively. Apple is now being more environment-friendly by using these recyclable substances and doing away with the plastic that they used in the previous iMacs. Comparing to its predecessors, the new iMacs are made to be slimmer and thinner. By all appearances, the new iMacs are great to look upon.

Doctors have come to discover that listening to an iPod or Mp3 player of any kind during a thunder storm can have deadly effects- literally. 18 year old Jason Bunch was jogging and listening to his tunes on his iPod when there was a storm nearby and even though it was far away the lightning hit a tree and jumped off and hit him! The effect was several serious burns, ruptured eardrums and even broken bones!

When Apple released the iPod, they immediately thought up of developing a smaller version that is so much easier on the budget, hence the iPod Nano. Once again Apple is on the same track! According to Kevin Chang an analyst at JP Morgan, Apple filed a patent at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office for something that looks like a smaller iPhone. Though iPhone has been the most awaited phone because of its mixed capabilities, not all can avail of it because of its price. So with the smaller iPhone Apple will be able to target a wider range of clients.

Ultraportable MacBook Pro

After the iPhone some rumors are already circulating that Apple will be releasing a new ultraportable 12-inch laptop that will be included in its MacBook Pro line. Could this new product of theirs provoke the same interest and popularity as the iPhone? If you will recall almost all of Apple’s products have stirred up lost of interest as shown by the publicity. But, in this regard we only have to wait and see…

As expected, Apple was not disappointed with the result of the launching of the much-awaited iPhone. Its launch last Friday can simply be described as phenomenal! And you know what? Just after 4 days of the launch, the stores carrying the iPhone ran out of supply! Talk about its exceptional success! Previously it was mentioned that iPhone has a price of $3000, but its official price is actually $599, and with this price a lot of fanatics were able to get hold it before it ran out.

Wow, there is really no stopping the iPhone craze even though Apple announced that it could even reach $3000! Today at 6 p.m. is the official sale time of the iPhone but even days before, a handful of die-hard enthusiasts have already lined up over at Apple Store in New York’s Fifth Avenue. But even though some people have lined up earlier, they will only be able to acquire one iPhone, well that’s according to AT&T, there was no such statement from Apple.

Excitement is soaring higher as the launch date for the much-coveted iPhone draws nearer. iPhone fanatics have barely two weeks to wait before they can get their hands on this device…that is if they are lucky enough and the supply lasts until their point in line on June 29. Guys listen to this, according to AT&T spokesman Fletcher Cook says that only a limited number if units will be available at the initial launch but that they will expand the supply at a later date.

During the World Wide Developers Conference last Monday Apple also let the world know about their web browser – Safari that will work right on the Windows OS. At the present time, Safari 3 is already available for download just for a test run in the meantime. PC users with Windows OS who want to try out something new aside from the dominant Internet Explorer and Firefox will really be able to see and evaluate for themselves if Safari 3 is really twice as fast as IE and 42-percent quicker than Firefox when it comes to HTML browsing, as what Steve Jobs disclosed during his announcement.
