Cellphone Cameras Need to Click

Aside from cheese, a camera phone's clicking sound might be one of the most prevalent sounds each time a picture is taken. No more subtle picture taking here and there even with cellphone cameras. A bill, Camera Phone Predator Alert Act, has been introduced in Congress. This bill requires camera-phone makers to provide an audible sound to the camera phone whenever a picture is taken and that sound must not be silenced or disabled. This particular sound must be audible from a reasonable distance the bill said.

According to reports, President Barack Obama has exchanged the Blackberry 8700 phone he used during the presidential campaign for a security-enhanced phone. The new phone is said to be General Dynamics’ Sectera Edge. At a glance the phone appears to be an ordinary-looking phone, however, with just a touch of a button it can be turned into a device that accesses top-secret applications.

Obama’s Inauguration Jams Web and Wireless Networks

As expected, many people were glued to their TV screens and PCs during new U.S. President Barack Obama’s inauguration. How did technology fare during this time? Well, despite preparations, wireless networks’ services had some difficulties. Even the web had traffic jams! Websites that were expected to deliver live feed couldn’t keep up with the demands of the public. An example is CNN. Not many were able to avail of the live video feed during and shortly after the inauguration. CNN recorded approximately 18.8 million live streams Tuesday morning between 3 and 10 a.m., and to think not all were able to gain access. Another site that had some problems was Twitter. Updates sent by users were slow or inaccessible during the height of Obama’s speech.

This portable internet device already created a buzz a few months ago because it will be the first affordable web tablet that boots up straight into the browser; which means no more waiting for the OS to fully load! When Michael Arlington of TechCrunch first wrote about it he said that it will cost only around $200. But now, it seems that price will be pushed to the $300 mark. But this price could be just worth it.

Obama’s Inauguration Coming to you Live Through Silverlight

Barack Obama Obama’s inauguration is only a few hours away. By now, millions are waiting with baited breath for “A New Birth of Freedom”, Obama’s inauguration theme. The theme itself commemorates the 200th anniversary of Abraham Lincoln’s birth. Being a major event, not many will be able to attend the inauguration live. Millions will be glued to their TV screens and of course computers just to get see and listen to the new President’s speech.
