No Android 4.2 for Nexus S and Motorola Xoom

Due to hardware limitations, some devices including smartphones and tablets are not getting upgraded to the latest Android OS version. Guess which devices have been dropped from the main Android Open Source Project list? They’re the Nexus S and Motorola Xoom. These two will not be upgraded to Android 4.2 rather they will continue to operate using the OS version is has presently, Jelly Bean 4.1.2.
The Nexus S was released in 2010 and back then the technology and hardware used weren’t as advanced as they are today so, Google probably thinks Nexus S won’t be able to handle the upgrade.
But, what about the Motorola Xoom? Well, although it has excellent technical specs, it was not a huge commercial success after it was released in February 2011. It would probably be a waste to continue supporting its system.
Anyhow, I think there are only very few owners of the said devices these days. Most of them have probably upgraded to the new and more advanced smartphones and tablets available in the market these days.
But the good news is, Android 4.2 is already available according to Google AOSP technical lead Jean-Baptiste Queru!
