HP Launches MusicStation Service in Europe

HP is taking on iTunes with its own music service called HP MusicStation. The said music service is developed by Omnifone. Initially, the service will be a Europe-only offer. Ten countries in the said continent: France, U.K., Italy, Germany, Spain, Switzerland, Sweden, Austria Belgium, and Netherlands.

To avail of HP MusicStation, the users would have to subscribe. They can have unlimited downloads once they are enrolled in the service. And aside from that, the subscribers will also have additional 10 DRM-free tracks that they can keep for life.

In addition, the MusicStation software will be pre-installed in several HP desktops and laptops. Pavilion, Presario, and Envy PCs are the line-ups that will have it. Those who get hold of the laptops that have MusicStation can use the service free for two weeks. After that they’d have to subscribe in order to continue using the service. Monthly subscription rates vary so from country to country. For instance, it will cost $14.50 in the U.K., $14.40 in Switzerland, $13.70 in Sweden, and $14.10 to the rest of the aforementioned countries.
