Sony Two New E-book Readers

The E-reader war has not ended with Amazon’s development of Kindle. Sony has bounced back to give Kindle the competition it badly needs. And there’s not just one new competitor, but two! The Reader Pocket Edition and Reader Touch Edition are definitely capable of taking on Amazon’s Kindle e-book reader. The Reader Touch Edition is the more sophisticated of the two. It has a 6-inch touchscreen that proves great when it comes to navigating the menu, turning the pages, highlighting words and a lot more. The Reader Pocket Edition, on the other hand, has a 5-inch display that is not a touch screen.

Both these e-readers use the same E-ink technology as with the older e-readers. Through this technology, users will have a very clear view of the black and white text of the e-books even under direct sunlight. Sony made sure that there is enough storage space on both readers to accommodate as much as 350 e-books.

To attract buyers, Sony is planning to cut the prices of best-selling e-books by about $2; that is from $11.99 to $9.99.

The Reader Touch Edition is available with a $299 price tag, while the Reader Pocket Edition will cost $199 only.

This article is awful. These readers have been out for 2 months and Sony already cut ebook prices to $9.99 back in October.

    What's wrong with you?
