Is recession to blame for the collapse of i-Mate? This UAE-based smartphone maker closed shop permanently yesterday. On Wednesday, employees were told to have compulsory two-month unpaid leave and only to find that the office was shut-down the next day. i-Mate’s retail partners were just notified that the company is no more and won’t be delivering goods anymore. The company’s shut-down comes as a complete surprise to everyone; although i-Mate’s silence over the past few weeks could have been an indication that people simply didn’t take notice of.
i-Mate Shuts Down Operations Permanently
To those who don’t know, i-Mate is one of the popular retailers of smartphone running Windows Mobile. It has a wide market in the Middle East, US, Asia, and Europe. Unfortunately, there won’t be any i-Mate phone to reach these places.
The very last handset that the company announced prior to the shut-down is the i-Mate 810F, which is a rugged smartphone aimed for business. But now, retailers who are expecting to have the hardware on their store shelves will just have to look for a replacement. There’s nothing they can do but bid i-Mate goodbye!

I am shocked to hear this now,I have a Ultimate 9502 which is under warranty and it is under repair in Pune.the authorized persons say it will take more time,...its been already delayed by 2 months , and I think this people are going to give a big head ache to everybody who have already purchased the Imate phones. I am from hyderabad and I don't think there is a scope to get the company out from this great turmoil. But, how about the servicing of the phones and customer support is it going to be a nightmare to remember not to buy a smartphone of any other company now on.
