Asus to Develop Colored Dual-Screen E-Reader

Asus is also jumping into the e-book reader bandwagon. Like other e-book readers released previously, the one that Asus is developing looks really promising. If people were paying attention during the CeBIT trade show last March, Asus has displayed a prototype of the device. This Asus e-reader is very different from Amazon’s Kindle, Sony’s and Fujitsu’s creations because it resembles a book! Yup, it won’t only have one page, but two! That’s double the fun when reading e-books!

According to Asus President Jerry Shen, the e-reader will have a ridged spine to make the reader feel like he’s actually reading a book. However, that as close as that can go because turning pages will still have to be made by means of the touchscreens. Based on reports, the Asus e-reader may also have a Web browser, Webcam, and microphone. Hmm, is that really possible? It now sounds more like a mini-tablet than an e-reader to me. Anyway, it’s said to have a colored screen instead of the typical black and white display.

Now it gets glum because if all these high-end features are really made possible no doubt, it’s going to be another costly e-book reader that not a lot could afford. Though it seems like a promising device, if the price is that high then, I’d rather just buy the book itself!
