Facebook Acquires FriendFeed

Facebook’s domination is not stopping any time soon. This massive social networking site has recently announced its acquisition of the FriendFeed service. If this is the first time you’ve heard of FriendFeed, well it is a service that’s almost similar to Twitter. It’s also a microblogging service that offers real-time updates from its users. However, FriendFeed doesn’t have that much users that is why it’s more beneficial for them to partner with Facebook who has over 250 million users.

No one is going to lose his job in this acquisition. FriendFeed’s 12 employees will be joining Facebook folks. Paul Buchheit, Bret Taylor, Jim Norris, and Sanjeev Singh, founders of FriendFeed, are going to have senior positions in Facebook’s Engineering and Product teams. FriendFeed folks are happy about the acquisition and they are all looking forward to working with the rest of the Facebook team.

Here’s a snippet from the FriendFeed’s blog, “The FriendFeed team is extremely excited to become a part of the talented Facebook team. We've always been great admirers of Facebook, and our companies share a common vision. Now we have the opportunity to bring many of the innovations we've developed at FriendFeed to Facebook's 250 million users around the world and to work alongside Facebook's passionate engineers to create even more ways for you to easily share with your friends online.”

In the same way, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg expressed his delight in the partnership. However, they have yet to plan how to integrate both services.
