Facebook has added a new feature to the networking site. The new feature, already made available this Monday, enables users to search for specific updates from the site. A user can type in a certain keyword on the search bar and the new interface automatically gathers all updates related to that keyword that other Facebook users have made. Aside from results from Friends, the search outcome can also include Events, Applications, and Groups. The new search feature includes an Everyone filter that allows users to be on top of the various topics and updates about major topics. However, the updates won’t show on the Facebook page until the user clicks show.
Facebook Launches New Search Feature
It’s not only new updates — pictures, status updates, links, notes — that users can search for. They can also look for old ones. Yes, old updates…as old as 30 days. If a user wants to know what activities in the site his friend, or even one who is not on his friend’s list, has been up to in the past 30 days, he can just search for it. Facebook will immediately yield results about that contact, provided that person has chosen to show all his page’s content to everyone.
According to Facebook’s blog the testing of this new feature began last month with a few groups of people taking part. The test was a success that is why Facebook people have decided to make it available to everyone on Monday.
