Google Voice Banned From Apple’s App Store

Google Voice is an application that has a great potential to make communication even more convenient for a lot of people, if only given the chance... a chance that’s been shot down when Apple rejected Google’s application to make Voice as one of iPhone’s programs. The let-down has been officially confirmed by a Google spokesperson. His statement about the rejection was clear, “Apple did not approve the Google Voice application we submitted six weeks ago to the Apple App Store. We will continue to work to bring our services to iPhone users —for example by taking advantage of advances in mobile browsers.”

This rejection of the Googe Voice has spawned lots of buzz among developers and other interested parties. Many can’t really understand Apple’s refusal to let Google Voice be a part of its App Store. Could it really because of AT&T? It’s general knowledge that AT&T is the exclusive provider of the iPhone. Well, since Google Voice is a free voice application that offers free U.S. long distance calls, a conflict of interest is inevitable.

Voice is not the only application that Apple has rejected from its App Store. The company has also rejected the inclusion of the location-based tool, Google Latitude.

Even though it’s not going to be in the App Store, iPhone users can still download Google Voice from the Web. However, a flawless performance is not guaranteed.
