The company claims that it has a $3 million sales increase because of Twitter. The $2 million sales were due to the company’s Twitter stream; while the $1 million came from customers who used the @DellOutlet Twitter account before going and buying directly from the company. The gist is, Twitter helped increase Dell’s traffic; consequently its sales. Dell has been wise in using the microblogging service as a way to publicize its deals and offers.
Dell Profits $3 Million Through Twitter
Dell has been tweeting its deals since June 2007 and from that time until today Dell has acquired more than 600,000 followers. This $3 million sales made with the help of Twitter is just a small percentage of what Dell actually makes. However, the important point is that, it’s possible to make money through a social networking site.
The exposure that Dell gets through Twitter is very advantageous indeed. But Twitter, on the other hand, has yet to make a profit from its service. So, because this latest bit from Dell, Twitter is watching them closely. It is hoping to come up with plan on how they can make revenue from businesses, like Dell, that use their service.
