Well, well… Amazon’s Kindle e-reader just keeps getting better. A new version is now available at the company’s website for $489. It’s a stiff price but, it’s all worth it because the new Kindle DX features a much bigger screen, 9.7-inches, which is really bigger than Kindle 2’s 6-inch diagonal screen. Reading from this e-reader gives the impression that you’re reading from paper with its total footprint of 10.4-inches by 7.2-inches. The Kindle DX’s features make it great for reading newspapers, textbooks, and business documents.
Amazon Kindle DX is Now Available
Where previously there was next page and previous page buttons located in the left side of the screen, the new Kindle DX comes with a motion sensor that automatically rotates the display image. It still supports 3G wireless access for downloading e-books straight from online stores. It is also equipped with bigger storage capacity, a 3.3GB which can hold as much as 3,500 books.
Amazon has bigger hopes for Kindle DX. In fact, it signed a deal with The New York Times, The Boston Globe, and the Washington Post that it will provide a more affordable price for people who sign long-term subscriptions to the said newspapers.
