Sony and Microsoft Ups the Ante with New Gaming Prototypes

The E3 Expo just showed that the game console war is far from over. When Microsoft’s and Sony’s controllers become available to the market, would Nintendo still be able to hold its leading spot? Nintendo might just lose it position because Sony’s and Microsoft’s controllers are really more advanced and they provide a much more enjoyable way of playing console games.

In a video taken from the Expo, Sony demonstrated just how its new controller will work. The controller which is a short stick with one round end that glows works in sync with the Playstation Eye camera. Through the combined features of the camera and the controller, gamers will feel like they are actually inside the game they’re playing. It has sub-millimeter accuracy and three-dimensional positioning for complex games that requires shooting, drawing, and even assembling blocks. Even at this point, we can see that this upcoming Sony system has great potentials.

Now, would Microsoft just sit back and let Sony take the lead spot? Of course not! They came up with their own sophisticated system, one they call Natal. Unlike Sony’s system, Natal doesn’t require a controller. Hand-gestures, facial and voice recognition are the ways to access into the Xbox profiles. And based on the video shown, you and your friends can directly converse, share things, and even play games through this new device.

These prototypes shown by Sony and Microsoft are really revolutionary. Console gaming will surely be changed once they get released to the market.

Do you think Nintendo will be able to retain its top spot in the game console wars once these new systems are released?
