Check Out FileMaker Bento for Your iPhone

Bento for iPhone

A new application is now available for the iPhone. Last week, FileMaker launched the Bento personal database version for the iPhone and also the iPod Touch. Prior to this, Bento was only available for the Mac.
iPhone owners will sure be glad to have this new application because it offers the convenience of organizing various types of files. The new version of Bento includes 25 templates that users can easily configure to sort out their documents, contacts, calendar, and photos.

When the application is activated, there appears an interface which looks like an Apple “Cover Flow”. This enables users to easily navigate through their databases that appear as collections. Creating new collections is easy because the new Bento features 15 filed types that cover text, numbers, checkbox, media, time, date, currency, address, rating, email, phone number, IM account, and URL.

One thing that makes the new Bento amazing is that it’s a standalone application. It doesn’t need the desktop version in order to work. However, to keep it up-to-date, the Bento 2.0v4 is needed.

Getting the new app won’t bust the budget as well. You can get Bento for iPhone for just $5 through the Apple App Store.

Bento is a nice App but it only addresses about 5% of the market. It currently does not sync with PC's and the data is not protected.

Meaning that if you are one of the 8 million Americans that lose or have their phone stolen this year - then anyone can access your data.

FileMaker would be smart to address this by adding some sort of encryption and powerful password protection and making the application X-plat.

The other option is FMTouch which syncs with both Mac and PC and connects FileMaker to the iPhone.

So FileMaker if you are listening -

Make the solution sync to both Mac and PC!
Protect our data! Identity theft is amazingly high and having our data unprotected is a serious risk to both businesses and the average Joe.
