UAE Gives Permission to the Use of Arabic Domain Names

Domains in Arabic in UAE

Have you ever come across a domain name that doesn’t use the English language? Well, I haven’t. But, we might encounter one soon because the United Arab Emirates will now permit domain names that use Arabic characters. On Monday the Ministerial Council for Services officially approved the proposal that was put across by the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA). TRA made the proposal as a part of a national strategy to name Arabic language on the web.

At this time, the websites is UAE only use the .’ae” English domain address that’s controlled by the .aeDA department, a sector of the TRA.
Based on the report given by WAM, the nation’s national news agency, permitting the use of Arabic domain names will “contribute to increasing the number of surfers to Arabic sites, and further promote and strengthen the UAE’s identity.”

If you live in the UAE or any Arab country, you can share your views as to how this new development will benefit you.
