The Rumored Sony Ericsson Hikaru

It has been a while since I covered a new phone from Sony Ericsson. I must have missed out on some of the phones it unveiled. But, I’m catching up. In a few days time Sony Ericsson will be unveiling a new Walkman phone model at the 2009 Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. However, leaked photos and bits of information about the supposedly upcoming Sony Ericsson Hikaru already made their way to the Unofficial SE Blog. According to the blog, the Hikaru is a music-oriented slider phone with a 2.6-inch display screen.

Sturdy metal casing protects the 8GB internal memory of the phone. This storage space is enough mp3 storage for music on the go. And, it seems that Sony Ericsson is out to compete with Samsung. Why? Well, according to rumors this handset is going have an 8-megapixel camera with autofocus. You know that Samsung recently disclosed its 8-MP camera phone Memoir. Other features include a standard 3.5mm headphone socket, stereo speakers, and dedicated music keys.

Right now, all of these remain as rumors until Sony Ericsson reveals the true Hikaru phone. We’ll have to see at the MWC next week.
