PlayStation 3 gamers now have a niche of their own with the launch of the PlayStation Home beta. It is PS3 owners’ very own virtual world and social networking site. In this world, they can have freedom in fashioning their own space. They can create avatars and apartments furnished with their own choice of furniture and gadgets. Social interaction is also promoted as gamers can be in touch through VoIP, play mini-games together, attend events, and discover new territories in that virtual world. PlayStation Home is really like another world because it has arcades, bowling alleys, and private homes.

Using the PlayStation Home beta is easy since it contains a built-in tutorial that serves as a guide for navigating through the controls. A help menu is also found in the Menu Pad if there’s anything a user doesn’t understand.

Though the beta has just been launched, a closed beta has been running for some time now so, PlayStation Home is already populated with real players. Some games will be made available to home like Far Cry 2, Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune, guitar Hero and Warhawk Resistance.

PlayStation Home is free for gamers. To make profit, Sony plans to charge companies that interact with the users. Sony already has some names on the line like Diesel, Ligne Roset, Red Bull, Paramount Pictures, and Hexus TV and Eurogamer.
