Novatel Announces Wallet-Size Router

Novatel Wallet-Size Router

Need internet access on the go? Novatel can give that to you with its new MiFi. This new gadget is about the size of a deck of cards. It actually works like an intelligent mobile hotspot. It gathers creates internet connection by being a 3G modem, router, and embedded Linux-based PC without the confusion that goes along with setting up these kinds of connections. Novatel’s MiFi is an intelligent device because it can run security programs, VPNs, and even drivers for home appliances! But, what’s very beneficial to users is the auto-email-sync feature. In this feature the MiFi automatically stores email on its own MicroSD storage card so, you can just download it once you open it on your laptop.

Upon launch, MiFi will provide support for EVDO Rev A and HSDPA. There is also a great likelihood that Verizon Wireless and AT&T could take an interest in MiFi and mark it with some kind of service plan.

Novatel’s MiFi will be launched in the early part of 2009 with a price tag below $200.
