Land Rover and Sonim Team Up for Rugged Phones!

Land Rover Sonim cell phone

Land Rover and Sonim Technologies’ partnership is not a surprise to us. They are not the first car maker and technology provider to team up to create a one-of-a-kind handset. They aim to create mobile phones that will be ideal for people who love the ruggedness of the outdoors. Right now they are already working on three phone designs. Two of them – the Land Rover S1 and the Land Rover S2 G4 – are set to be released in early 2009. The third one will be launched at a much later date. These phones are really rugged-looking and are ready to handle all outdoor elements…rain, fog, you name it, they can handle it! And even if you drop it in water or concrete from a 1.6m height, it will not shatter to pieces.

Its toughness is due to the long-lasting, re-usable material in the protective case. This material is called XENOY, the so-called revolutionary post-consumer plastic derived mostly from used plastic bottles and film. Prices for these rugged Land Rover phones have yet to be announced. They’re sure worth watching out for!
