Apple Switching to Nvidia Chipsets

Apple and Nvidia

Don’t be surprised if sooner or later you find that the Apple notebook you purchase has Nvidia platform instead of Intel, which the company has been known to use. According to reports, Apple will soon be making a switch to Nvidia chipsets. The chipset that is going to be used is Nvidia’s MCP79 platform. This will be the replacement to Intel Centrino 2 “Montevina” platform. Support for the 1066 MHz front side bus, optional DDR3 memory, and PCI Express 2.0 interface are some of the common things that these two platforms have in common. However, the Nvidia MCP79 seems to offer more for the Apple notebook with its smaller size, DriveCache with faster boot times, and Hybrid SLI which switches from discrete to integrated graphics when battery is low.

The Nvidia MCP79 is a great chipset because it is reported to use GeForce 9300 ad 9400 series integrated graphics processors. But whichever of these two are actually used, superb visual effects is ensured.
