Changing the World with Project 10 to the 100th

Google 10th anniversary

Google will be celebrating its 10th birthday and for a wish it wants to change the world! For the better, that is why it launched a program called Project 10 to the 100th.
You pronounce it as Project 10 to the 100th. This project is aimed to gather ideas that will change the world by helping as many people around the world as possible. The company is giving $10 million dollars for the said program. Out of the thousands of ideas that will be submitted, Google will get the top 100 ideas. These 100 choices will be narrowed down into 20 through Google users’ votes. Then, once the final 20 has been chosen, a panel of judges will deliberate and choose 5 ideas that will receive final funding.

According to Google ideas can be diverse. It doesn’t matter whether they are big or small, technology-driven or brilliantly simple, all that’s required is they must have impact.

If you think you have an idea that can help change the world and people’s lives you can submit it now to Google. Submissions are already being accepted and will run only until October 20. There’s a submission form provided where you can give the essence of your idea. A 30-second video must accompany the said form. Online voting of the selected 100 ideas will start on January 27.

In coming up with an idea there are some categories and criteria that must be taken into consideration. Here are the guidelines that must be followed as taken from the official site of Project 10 to the 100th:

Guidelines:

Our goal is to set as few rules as possible. However, we ask that you put your idea into one of the following categories and consider the evaluation criteria below.
Categories:

• Community: How can we help connect people, build communities and protect unique cultures?
• Opportunity: How can we help people better provide for themselves and their families?
• Energy: How can we help move the world toward safe, clean, inexpensive energy?
• Environment: How can we help promote a cleaner and more sustainable global ecosystem?
• Health: How can we help individuals lead longer, healthier lives?
• Education: How can we help more people get more access to better education?
• Shelter: How can we help ensure that everyone has a safe place to live?
• Everything else: Sometimes the best ideas don't fit into any category at all.
Criteria:
• Reach: How many people would this idea affect?
• Depth: How deeply are people impacted? How urgent is the need?
• Attainability: Can this idea be implemented within a year or two?
• Efficiency: How simple and cost-effective is your idea?
• Longevity: How long will the idea's impact last?

This is FANTASTIC, well done to Google for coming up with this inspiring concept! With all the craziness this world is facing today, we need to start pulling together and all focus on ways to heal our world. Imagine the power of all of our thoughts focused on the same thing!!! I actually found a very interesting blog that's getting involved in this project, take a look around on the site too and it'll really get you thinking, http://www.kabbalahblog.info/2008/10/project-10-to-the-100-google/.
