Two new laptops are heading our way, courtesy of Dell. The A860 and the A840 are the two new additions to Dell’s Vostro series. Physically, these two models look the same. It is only when you look closely when you’ll see that the A860 has bigger screen with 15.6-inch HD LCD while the A840 only sports 14.1-inch WXGA LCD. Both of these screens have anti-glare screens for better viewing. These laptops can be installed with either Vista or Ubuntu because they run on Celeron to Core 2 Duo processors.
Dell Announces New Vostro Laptops
Both of these new Vostro laptops are designed to be used for small businesses and institutions that require only the essential computing functions. Dell’s Vostro A860 and A840 come installed with integrated network, modem and wireless connectivity, PC Card slot, 1GB RAM, built-in optical drives, DVD/CD-RW combo driver or 8x DVD+/-RW with double layer DVD+/-R write capability. Though, these two models differ in hard drive capacity – the A860 has 160GB while the A840 has 120GB storage capacity.
Prices of these Vostro laptops have yet to be announced.

The Vostro A860 is mainly meant for business tasks. It is Dell’s first 15.6-inch notebook and uses a 16:9 aspect ratio display. The key features of Vostro A860 includes an HD widescreen LCD with anti-glare coating, integrated network modem and wireless connectivity with optional Bluetooth capability.
The Vostro A840, on the other hand, is smaller in size as compared to Vostro A860. The 14.1 inch A840 has WXGA display. It also incorporates HD widescreen LCD with anti-glare coating and offers reliability with mobile business computing.
