firefox 3

Mozilla aimed for a world record when the company released the Firefox 3.
Their clients around the world certainly did not disappoint them.
Guinness finally confirmed that Firefox 3 has officially set a new world record as having the most software downloads within 24 hours. On the whole, 8,002,530 people downloaded the Firefox 3 from 18:16 UTC June 17, 2008 to 18:16 UTC June 18, 2008.
You can't deny that the cited figure is really a staggering number!

On the official Mozilla blog, the company thanks everyone who participated and supported the widespread marketing campaign for the Firefox 3. You’ll remember that they even made SpreadFirefox.com where users can pledge their support for the launch.

Things were not as trouble-free as they may seem during the download day. Due to the high demand for the software’s downloads, some of Mozilla’s servers went down! Good thing all the company’s personnel are on the look out so the problem was fixed immediately. In just two hours the servers were up and running again to fulfill the high download demand. And as I said, it all paid off because Mozilla’s Firefox 3 is now a Guinness World Record holder.

Mozilla also recognizes your part in making it all come true that is why a customizable certificate of participation can be downloaded from SpreadFirefox.com.

Congratulations to Mozilla!
