There is a new offering from Samsung. The company announced the launch of the new i900 Omnia handset. Some say that this is Samsung’s hit against Apple’s second iPhone. By it’s appearance the Samsung i900 Omnia looks like a worthy competitor to the iPhone. The i900 Omnia is also a touchscreen phone that is Samsung’s very first unit to possess the Windows Mobile 6.1 as its operating system. This 12.5 mm-thick smartphone is installed with a huge 3.2-inch 400 x 240 WQVGA display. It works using quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE+HSDPA network. Connectivity is also possible with the wireless Bluetooth and WiFi. A 5-mgeapixel camera with auto focus is also included in the phone’s features. It’s an advanced sort of camera because of its smile detection and auto panorama capabilities.
There will be two models of this device – one is 8GB and the other is 16GB. Both of these can still be expanded using microSD cards. Other goodies included in the device are the built-in GPS, accelerometer for auto-rotation and an optical mouse.
With these features presented, won’t you agree that the Samsung Omnia is really ompetitive? By the way, it is going to be available this month. Europe should expect it by July. As for the price, there’s no word yet.
