Though mobile Internet usage is still not that high, popular search engine, Google, is not taking any chances. The company recently announced that it is joining the fray on mobile advertising by introducing mobile banner ads. Google’s AdWords campaign can now also be seen in mobile Internet, so advertisers making use of this ad service can choose whether to use text only ads or banner ads.
The banners that will be used on phone are similar to the ones you see on desktops, only that they have been scaled down to fit in the mobile phone’s display screen. The banner ads that will appear are those that correspond to the keywords typed in by the user during his search. And just like before, these Google Ads are priced on a per-click basis. So that the screen will not appear chaotic, only one banner will be displayed per page.
With this new effort it is hoped that more advertisers will be attracted to join in mobile advertising. Prior to Google, other companies are already displaying banner ads on the mobile Web. Some of these companies are Yaho, AdMob and Third Screen, as well as Microsoft.
