Well, well. Microsoft is really pushing their clients to use the Vista for their PCs and notebooks. Due to the company’s intention to discontinue the Windows XP Home edition, many device-makers have opted to incorporate Linux into their machines. This decrease in patronage maybe what urged Microsoft to extend selling Windows XP to the market, but this will only be for selected computers. Microsoft will now only allow Windows XP to be sold and used for ultra-low-cost-PCS. These kinds of PCs may not be compatible with OS Vista because they have small screens, low memory, and slower processors.
The End is Near for the Windows XP
It is really bad news for mainstream PCs because Microsoft’s technical support will cease by April 2009. Only very limited support will be available max until 2014. So, even at this time, many device makers are making the change towards Vista.
This move to stop the use of the Windows XP has been planned long ago. But because of the delays in the launch of the Vista, the XP’s life has been extended.

I have xp professional - wondering how long
do I have before they pull the plug on
professional.
Thank You

If they stop supporting XP home edition by April 2009 ... then its just a matter of months or a year at max before stopping the support to the pro edition!!
The problem is that i tried vista and i hate it!
