Yahoo to Sell Digital Music Service to RealNetworks

Yahoo music subscribers have nothing to worry about if they’ve heard of the news that Yahoo Inc. will stop its online subscription to service. Those are subscribed to a particular plan on Yahoo Music can still continue availing of the service. Yahoo Inc. will be selling its digital music service to Rhapsody America, the music subscription service from RealNetworks Inc. and Viacom Inc. This move to turnover their online music subscription service is in accordance with the move to improve their online music service. Yahoo wants to focus more on ad-supported music as well as other offerings. The deal is expected to be complete by the middle of this year. So, far no details regarding the deal between Yahoo and RealNetworks Inc. have been disclosed, only that Yahoo will promote Rhapsody.

Those who are enrolled in the Yahoo Music Unlimited will have nothing to worry about because the payment plans will be the unchanged for certain time span after the service has been turned over. At the present time Yahoo bills their clients about $5.99 a month if the plan was for the whole year. But if it’s not for a full year, monthly bill is $8.99. It is going to be somewhat costly in Rhapsody because their membership will set off at $12.99 per month.
