I would hate it very much if my laptop would give me electric shock every time I touch it! If that happens, the first thing I will do would be to return it to the shop where I bought it. I’m quite sure the owners of Dell aluminum laptops are doing the very same thing right now with the reports that these aluminum laptops give off electric shock. According the complaints and reports at the Dell forums, the shocks differ in strength, some are mere tingles while others are sudden jolt. And we all know any of those can be really irritating. The laptop models under scrutiny here right now are the brushed aluminum finish XPS M1330 and the XPS M1530.
The problem has been traced in the powers adapter. The power adapter was not grounded properly. Where there should have been three pins in the 2-prong connector investigation show that there are only 2 pins. But then it seems Dell knows of the problem as well since there is an article from them that says “A Tingling Sensation May Be Noticed When Touching Metal Components of Dell Devices Equipped with Two-Prong AC Adapters.”
If you are experiencing this kind of problem don’t worry because Dell is also offering replacement for the power supplies.
