If it were really that possible maybe people wouldn’t leave their homes anymore since transactions can already be achieved in the virtual world. And this is the idea that Apple is capitalizing on as the company comes into partnership with movie maker Twentieth Century Fox. This partnership will pave the way for Twentieth Century Fox movies to be available for rent via Apple’s iTunes Music Store. For a certain fee users can download the latest movie that they want to see, but for a limited time only as it is for a rent basis.
So what other things comprises the agreement? Well, Twentieth Century Fox will employ Fairplay digital rights management technology for the DVD’s that they will release in the future. Fairplay will also provide digital file protection for the movies. This new partnership between Apple and Twentieth Century Fox will possibly be declared on January 14 at the Macworld conference, that’s according to Financial Times.
To make the new digital rent service more encompassing, Apple is also having talks with other movie companies like Sony pictures, Warner Brothers and others. At the present time the only movie company providing movies to iTunes is Walt Disney and it is a purchase service not a rental. So, those who do not want to be cluttered down with a lot of video files will find this digital rental service an advantage.
