Tech N Gadgets

What’s the real problem with Nintendo Wii? There’s a list of things and I’ll start with Longevity … It does not have the longevity to live very long. The technical specs just aren’t there. For one it can only output 720X480 resolution. And since flat screen TVs produce roughly 1900X1200 resolution, you have to stretch that picture three times its size, making for a very blurry and jaggy image.

Remember the people buying the Wii are not real gamers. They are going to buy it like they would buy any nostalgic device. The Wii could have been a Beanie Baby for all we care. It just so happens that the gimmicky gadget of the year is in the video game realm. This really is not a next gen system. The buzz already is the Wii is boring to play. I am not talking about newbie buzz, I am talking about year old owners who are just simply bored out of their minds with the Wii.

I had one Wii owner view the PS3 for the first time, and he was a kid in a candy store, it made me laugh. He was so excited and could not believe the visuals and realism of Assassins Creed and the intense game play of WarHawk. He was blown away with the colors and vivid realism of Uncharted Drakes fortune. The only thing he was thinking about was how to get rid of his Wii !

I feel bad for Wii owners, because they are getting duped on a crappy gimmicky product!

I do give credit to Nintendo for their controller, but it’s just a matter of time. Sony already has that technology built into their system with the six axes controller. In fact I see the games coming. There is a Bowling game on the PS Network that you can download and bowl, using real bowling form. You actually bowl using the six access controller. The game looks identical to a Wii game. Sony is smart, they are testing the waters. They have Wii technology built in. Just wait till they start producing Wii like games, plus all of the HD technology they have built into their unit. Sony is smart not to rain on the Wii parade just yet, as that would just upset people, but the storm is coming and the Wii is not built to stand up against it. They have ZERO scalability, where as Sony has the luxury of moving backwards to make itself Wii-able. Also, one nice thing about Sony's controller, is it has the same functionality as the Wii's controller but does not need the IR bar in front of the TV. It functions using 6 gyros inside of the controller, to understand it's placement. Much more innovative. Finally there is a patent pending that was posted last year by Sony at the launch of the Wii for a controller that is almost identical to the Wii, like I said the storm is coming and Sony is backing up to include this silly gimmick in its game lineup.

Finally, I am just curious to all you Wii owners out there. When your friends and family leave your party, do you really jump around your living rooms alone??? I didn't think so, like I said Gimmick.

Oh - and I can't leave out the Xbox 360, red ring of death anybody? Microsoft makes crap and has been doing so since their first OS. How's Vista working for you? I switched back to XP. How about that Zune? My iPhone says die already! Anyone's Xbox steering wheel catch on fire lately. WAKE UP!!!

I'm not disgruntled but I hope if any confused newbies read this they just get the facts and buy a PS3. Don't be suckered into buying this other junk.

Article of the year! Sony is bringing the storm into 2008, have you got your dual shock ready to rumble yet? Get the white one!

I once had a Wii, I sold it, before it could gather dust.

After having all 3 systems, Xbox 360 is the gamers choice. PS3 has ok but at the end of the day, Xbox 360 has the best over-all experience, with exclusive titles, Xbox Live etc... Sony spent a lot coping the Wii Remote and trhe "Suxasses" is probably the worst controller I have ever touched. At the end of the day you got yourself a Blu-ray player that plays games and has a web browser (BFD). By the way your rnat stinks of fanboy...

Waleg says "I feel bad for Wii owners, because they are getting duped on a crappy gimmicky product!"
Thanks for your sympathy. I'm afraid it's a little misplaced though? We have had the Wii for about a year, and our family loves it. You'll be glad to know that the Wii has been one of the best entertainment items our family has bought in a long time. No one among our family and friends seems to miss the higher resolution graphics of the XBox 360 and the PS3. The Wii images look fine on our HD Plasma TV.

What a great time everyone had at our Christmas Eve party! Laughter and smiles spread through our home. The highlight of the evening was when our nephew's 4-year-old played my 80-year-old mother in a game of bowling. That's a highlight that will be talked about at family gatherings for a very long time.
I know many gamers are having difficulty understanding the success of the Wii, but no one at the party had any trouble understanding why it's such a popular console. It's fun!

The juvenile language and focus of this article shows the lack of maturity and foresight of the author. One must remember, Wii is designed for another generation of players. The Wii console creates an opportunity for almost all people -- you can't sat that about XBox and/or PS3. Clearly, Wii has had a significant impact on the market. To say any particular game platform will be THE platform is poor.

You're probably too young to remember the impact Atari and others had on the markets. Nothing lasts forever. Someone else will build something unexpected and vastly successful as well.

Our family has a Wii and loves it. We play it almost every day. It entitles us to play as individuals AND with family. I'm looking forward to Wii Fit and future applications.

Let me first start off by saying that Yes - the PS3 and Xbox360 are both technically superior devices by physical hardware measurements alone. My current PC is probably on par with both these consoles but within 6 months the planned upgrade path will make the PS3 antiquated compared to my gaming PC.

The Wii has been outselling the PS and Xbox 2-1, 3-1 or better since its launch. This console is not going away, it is in fact here to stay. Your argument about the physical comparison of the two consoles brings back memories of the people who tout (and some still do to this day) the superiority of Vinyl records over digital Compact Discs. Yes, vinyl is superior, but you missed the point (and the market). They have sold 300+ Billion CD's in the last 15 years, and still going strong - I guess technological superiority isnt everything, it is about consumer experience.

The appeal of Wii goes far beyond hardware and this is the point that hardcore gamers and bloggers seem to not understand. The ability for a 5 year old to pick up a Wiimote and begin playing within a matter of minutes is actually quite amazing to watch, very close to the amazement watching a 75 year old do the same thing. The ability to download old games that I played growing up, and play them flawlessly on my new TV and Wii hardware is exactly what I would have asked for. Playing today's latest FPS or RPG games - I don't notice that the zombie only had 3 streams of blood when his head exploded, over the 8 that Xbox360 would have displayed, or the 12 of the PS3.

I think the Wii marks a turn in the console market. I for one can turn to my gaming PC for high def games, and will only buy a console that produces some value to me. The Wii is "THAT" console of this generation. Sorry to Microsoft and Sony - maybe next gen.

Venator, why are Nintendo thinking of releasing their next console as close as 2011. Surely if they were here to stay, it would stay until the PS4 comes out in 2014. Who says a child can't pick up a PS3 control and learn how to play in 5 mins. I agree, most games in the store they won't be able, but the games downloadable off PSN are easy to play, Super Rub a Dub, where you use the SIXAXIS to tilt a bathtub and control a rubber duck to collect ducklings and lead them down a plughole. There are 60 tubs and it costs about £5. Then there is flOw, which I haven't played, and Nucleus which you are inside the nucleus of a cell. There are many others too such as Toy Home and etc. Most of them cost less than £5. Even my mum like Super Rub a Dub, I've got the free starter pack that has 6 tubs.

Also if you were to turn your computer into a high def gaming PC that would cost a lot. A lot more than the PS3 its self, but you would get the same out of it.

You can't argue on a Wii and win. Never. Just like you can't argue about the Pokemon fad. No matter how it sucks or you outgrew it, the market for Pokemon is huge!! The casual market is where the $$$$ easy to make, those games are fun party games, where everyone can play and typical non gamers favour it. You can say those Wii are like the "esctasy" or your "hem" where everyone gets there fun lightly and more, whereas 360 or PS3 is where the real crack heroin is.....those are for the hardcore gamers.

I'm surprised an article like this come up when carrying out a google news search.

This article is badly written, somewhat biased and displays a remarkable lack of information. It doesn't even manage to get the punctuation or spelling right.

I will deal with one this half-wit's ridiculous misunderstandings:
"Also, one nice thing about Sony's controller, is it has the same functionality as the Wii's controller but does not need the IR bar in front of the TV."

Wthe Wiimote has tow DIFFERENT functionalities. The first one is that of motion sensing which is possible thanks to accelerometers featured in the Wiimote. The Wii does not require a sensor bar for this particular functionality, since it is based on blue tooth technology. The PS3 sixaxis controller has a less developed version of this motion sensing technology, however, it is less versatile than the wand shaped wiimote due to PS3's conventional controller shape (It'll be highly entertaining to see using the sixaxis controller as a tennis racket!)

The second functionality featured by the wiimote is that of pointing which is carried out through infrared technology. This is the functionality which requires the sensor bar and which the PS3 does not have (therefore lacking a sensor screen).

Further, the pointing infrared technology which the PS3 doesn't feature is of critical importance since it allows for accurate and intuitive 'mouse-like' interaction with the software. Therefore, it is now accepted that Wii is the bes home console for First Person Shooter gameplay because of this functionality. Analog sticks are now clumsy in comparison when playing a FPS.

Therefore to say that the PS3 controller has the ability to do exactly what the wiimote does is not accurate. The wiimote does more, and does it better. Most crucially, it has the software which makes good use of the new technologies.

Finally, I disagree with this article in its entirety apart from the longetivity of the Wii. I believe that Wii will not last as long as the other consoles, but then again it's so cheap that I'll be more than happy to buy another console in four years time or whaterver. Plus, unlike Sony, Nintendo does make its consoles fully backward compatible. However, what the Wii has done is it has invigorated my interest in videogaming, which is something I had lost. This Christmas I was as excited to get Mario Galaxy as I was when I got Mario World.

Basically the Wii makes me feel like a kid again, which I think is awesome. I can play it with my friends (who aren't hardcore gamers) and family and everyone has a blast of a time. For me any console that does that is unbeatable.

Funny, I've been following Nintendo's news ever since I heard about the Revolution (which by the way was about a year before it was released) and I still have yet to see anything about Nintendo saying they'll be sending a new one out before 2011.

Oh yeah, and the first time I ever saw a PS3 being played I was bored to tears, the seconds I DID laugh, because the demo showing it's 'motion sensing' was a complete joke. The guy was waving the controller around like a madman and the plane barely moved an inch, oh and that was sony's OFFICIAL demo video.

Hmmm... I've been gaming since 1989. Had an NES, Master System, Genesis, Super Nintendo, Nintendo 64, Gameboy, Gameboy Color, Gameboy Advance, Game Gear, PSX, PS2, PSP, XBOX, Gamecube, X360 and Nintendo DS. I've played the Sega CD, 3DO, Virtual Boy, Sega Saturn, Atari 2600, MSX, Turbo-GrafX-16, Wonderswan, Neo-Geo, N-Gage, Commodore 64 and even the Game and Watch. I've also got a Wii and I enjoy it very much. Am I supposed to believe that I'm not a real gamer because the Wii happens to be in my collection now? I've played several games that most gamers have never even heard of. Games that are available only in Japan. Games that are only available in Europe. I played games long before they came to America. I've imported like crazy, found fan translations of games never released in the US (and that probably never will be) and now I'm being told I'm not a "real gamer" because I have a Wii?

I want to address a few points. The first being the obvious, "Wii Owners aren't real gamers." Firstly, it was the Hardcore Gamer that made the Wii Popular in the first place. Not the casual gamer. And if you must know, yes, even after the party I'm still jumping around and moving even when I'm by myself. With games like Wii Sports and Wii play and Rayman Raving Rabbids it actually takes effort NOT to get into it. If you want to have fun, that is. Surely you could sit around like a couch potato but once more, even for the Hardcore crowd it's a little hard not to get up if you're getting into it.

Second, Sony only has that technology because Nintendo thought it up first. The motion sensor in the PS3's controller was a last minute tack on. An afterthought, if you will. When they realized that hardcore gamers were getting excited about the Wii Remote and its motion sensor controls they decided very late in the development that they could do that for the PS3.

Also, concerning the PS3, the reason I don't have one is because there just aren't enough games on it that will make me rush out to get it, and what games I am interested in are so far all going to the 360. I'm sorry, but I am a gamer who can't pick up a system for one game alone. I need to know that I'll get more out of it. Devil May Cry 4, Assassin's Creed, Call of Duty 4... these I can find on the 360 and they are but a few examples. Metal Gear Solid 4 has been rumored for the past few months that it'll get a 360 release, and at this point it could happen because PS3 sales just aren't good.

Even if Nintendo is planning their next console release to come soon, you have to remember that several of their consoles have endured over the years anyway. If I can still find gamers who are pulling out their Super Nintendo's and Nintendo 64's and still playing them... then something IS enduring. It's not about the console being made the last, it's about whether or not it will stand the test of time. The Wii very well could. Even if NIntendo releases their next console in 2011 before Microsoft and Sony get theirs out. The question is really going to be, "Are people still playing the Wii?" Remember, the Gameboy/Color was still selling really well even when the GBA debuted. And the GBA is still burning up the charts even with the DS and PSP being out.

Aside from that, you must also look at the facts. In the past the System to come out on top in each generation have never been the technically superior. The PSP is losing to the DS. The Gameboy outdid the Gamegear. The NES outdid the Master System. The SNES outdid the Genesis. The Playstation outdid the Nintendo 64 despite the Playstation being half as powerful. The PS2 did better than Gamecube and XBOX despite the XBOX being the most powerful. So keep that in mind as well. Even if the Wii turns out to be a fad, you can't deny that it's still selling. Look at the facts. People all across the gaming spectrum are playing the Wii. Why do people insist that Hardcore gamers don't play Casual games? That's not only ridiculous, it's untrue. Forget being Hardcore or Casual. What's wrong with just being a goddamn GAMER!? If you began gaming before the rise of the "Fanboy" in the 90's (courtesy of the Sega and Nintendo rivalry) then you already know that gaming is NOT about the consoles, but about the GAMES. I don't care which console is better, I care about which GAMES are good.

And while I do not have that many games on the Wii right now, I can't recall any system in the past ten years that got off to a magnificent start. The Playstation took almost two years before it finally got a game that made people rush out and buy it (Final Fantasy VII in that case, Resident Evil didn't really hit big until 1997 either, despite being released in '96). The PS2 took almost a full year before there were a multitude of games worth getting. And God only knows how the XBOX would've fared if it didn't have Halo that first year. So what I'm concerned about with the Wii's future is whether or not it'll have some good games. I'll admit openly that yes, my collection isn't large on the Wii but if I had a PS3 I'd only have one game right now. Even the 360 wasn't that worthwhile for a time. The 360 wasn't worth getting until about March of 2006. When there was finally a huge array of games worth getting on the 360 it was almost 2007. It's usually a bad idea to buy a system at launch because there are usually not too many good games. Remember, when the PS3 launched the "it" game was Resistance: Fall of Man while the Wii's "it" game was The Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess. Both systems only had one must get title at launch (according to sales, that is, not popular opinion, let's not count Wii Sports since that was packaged with the console).

Don't forget that Sony hasn't been gracious either. How many PS2's malfunctioned when they came out? And then, of course, we found out if you stood it up vertically you were going to break it. Constant lens cleaning was also needed. I've had my Playstation 1 for over ten years and I've yet to actually have the system be cleaned. I had to eventually buy a second PS2. Sony's PS2 wasn't "time proof" until 2003. Three years after it's initial release.

The Wii Remote right now feels like a gimmick; I'll give you that one. But it's also new technology that developers haven't mastered yet. Just like they haven't mastered developing for Blu-Ray. Sony and Nintendo are gambling right now. Developers do not like developing for Blu-Ray because it cost more money. Therefore sales have to be much higher than they anticipate. Which is why many have no choice but to release a 360 version as well. With the Wii, developers are still stuck in the phase of, "We have to use the motion sensor controls somehow," which in turn makes for some games having tacked on controls, and even I'll admit it's a real pain the ass to deal with. If a game comes out on 360 and Wii and the controls for the Wii version are bad I'm apt to buy the 360 version. I don't care about graphics. I still play my NES and SNES more than any other systems. The "graphics are better on PS3 and 360," argument won't work on me. I'll shoot right back at you, "But how's the gameplay and story?" Not saying graphics aren't important. If a game lags a lot or is really buggy I'll be frustrated. But I'm much more interested in the Artistic touch on the graphics. The Art Design, in other words. Most Hardcore gamers, contrary to the popular belief, are not too concerned with what game looks the best on which system.

In truth, if any gamer is looking for a console that'll give them a bang for their buck in terms of games, the 360 is probably the "It" system of the generation right now. Let's see how 2008 fares.

Regardless of your opinion, do look at facts too. The Wii has sold 17 million worldwide. The PS3 is just now coming up to 8 million as I write this comment. If the PS3 is really the system to get (and believe me, the price has not been an object for gamers) why aren't the gamers who flocked to the PS2 so quickly rushing off to buy it? The PS2's sales show that Sony has a plethora of fans. Over 120 million sold. If the PS3 is so great, then by this generations end it should have, at the very least, half of those sale (so 60 million worldwide). And I don't fault gamers at all for expecting much more of the PS3's sales. Because the Playstation 2 and the Playstation are the two best selling consoles of all time (120 million and 80 million respectfully). The PS3's disappointing sales (only 8 million sold worldwide after it's first year? The PS2 had sold well over 15 million units in 6 months, it's the fastest selling console of all time!).

I'm not trying to bash any of the three systems. I'm a gamer, not a fanboy. Fanboyism is the worst thing to happen to gaming since the crash of '83. It's made gamers like you forget about what's important. The games. Not the consoles. I love my 360, I love my Wii. And when developers finally get the hang of the PS3 and release some fantastic games, I'll love my PS3 when I get one too. I've loved each and every system I've ever owned.

I'm not trying to argue mind you. Just trying to present an alternate point of view to take in. The first being that the hardest of hardcore gamers are going to be the ones who will try and get of hold of everything gaming related (or at least play it). The only argument I'm making is that fanboyism is the root of all gaming evil. The third being that back when I was coming up as a gamer, the "Hardcore" versus "Casual" gamer did not exist. In fact, I can't even remember hearing the terms so much until the Wii came out. Up until 2006 I didn't even think about. I just played anything and everything I could. That's why I got the Wii. That's why I got the 360. That's why I plan on getting a PS3.

Sorry for such a long post.

This guy is a dope. First, what is the best-selling game system of 2007? The Wii? Nope, it's the good ol' PS2.

Hardcore gamers are under some illusion that the rest of the world is waiting to play the flashiest, newest games with the snazziest graphics--and that just ain't so. Hardcore gamers are a minority of videogamers, but they think they own the hobby for some reason. You don't.

I have a Wii and a PC. There is NOTHING the PS3 or the Xbox 360 offers me that I can't get with my PC--nothing. And the Wii opens up a whole new realm of gaming for me.

The expected life a videogame system is typically expected to be 5-7 years; the Wii already has one year under its belt and is still impossible to find in stores. I think it'll be just fine.

If you think a majority of gamers are going to shell out the cash for a PS3, though, you're nuts.

Anyway, you're wrong, and apparently you are someone who hates it when people are having fun and enjoying a product that you disdain. You must feel like an idiot, seeing all these people enjoying their Wiis, huh?

I sure as hell love playing RE4 on mine; I love being able to aim the Wiimote at body parts. You can't get that sort of gaming on a PS3; it doesn't exist.

This is without a doubt the most uninformative and worst written thing I have ever read all year.

I thought writers like you were supposed to express the both sides of the story evenly. To me it seems you have a personal vendetta with the wii. The wii is not a hardcore power house, this I will admit. But it is for a wider variety of people and to tell yo the true I play it more then the other consoles. and I own all three.

hahaha.

Why such an ignorant article?

Whoever wrote this obviously doesn't know that a system's preference to the consumer varies based off of his or her taste.

So basically, saying the ps3 dominates is like saying hamburgers dominate all fast foods.

I'd like to see sony TRY to rain on Nintendo's parade when their upcomming anticipated title "Super Smash Brothers:Brawl" is released worldwide.

When that happens...all I have to say is Sony is screwed.

LOOOOOL... its amazing.. AWESOME. the best article i've read this year. i have tears in my eyes cause you are so funny..
i hope it was just a joke, because you have no idea what you written down.
I tell you what it is.. it is just your rage against nintendo, cause you cant accept, that nintendo can rule the consolewar with such a little cute white piece of hardware. that makes you angry.
just a hint... try to read the real functionality about the wii remote. the SB isn't nessecary for moving the remote, its just to point on the screen for FPS games. and yes, the PS3 CAN NOT do this with his sixaxis crap.
do you remember E3 2005? you know how the PS3 controler looked like? it looked like a boomerang.. very sheep in my eyes.., then sony saw the wiimote, and just as sony is, they implement quit the same functions in her own pad.. yea.. thats the truth :D

ok then
25 December, 11:05PM

I have a PS3 and it's evident that the only people trying to bash Sony are fanboys, like the majority of you posting on here...

I do feel bad for "wii fans"..because the majority aren't fans at all.. their just casual people who already dumped their wii's behind the sofa, after buying into the hunk'a junks gimmicks.

In all honesty the wii is a piece of junk..NO nextgen games, playback or even audio features..

No new games that even make an impact...mario zelda and mario...last 20 years same olf garbage.

From an unbiased view Sony's portfolio is clreary eclipsing 2008 rivals..nothing new or great from ms, as well as nothing new or great from nintendo..unless you want "wii music"..another gimmick.

Just stop..nintendo said stated prior to launch that it wasn't even in direct competition..now their touting their machine as "great victory" over sony/ms...just stop, it's ab ig pile of nothing...sry guys and gals. : /

I smell fanboy all over you. The controls are only gimicky when it comes to who is developing the game dumbass. And if it is as shity as you said, why the hell didn't your beloved Sony sell so good with their PS3?

Sony is smart? I believe Sony was the one who copied all of Nintendo's ideas (PSP Slime and Lite sounds to me like the DS Lite, and what about the 6 axis motion controller?)

I am no fanboy, I love Sony and Microsoft, I have a PSP and a 360 (even though it's broken). But I hate bashers and fanboys that only dedicate their life to videogames and bashing their 'gods' opponents. In this case, your 'god' is Sony.

It scares me to think there are nerds in this world who actually believe this way. Sony is not your friend. Nintendo isn't the devil. The PS3 isn't the Messiah. Get a life and stop wasting your time making this crap up and using irrelevant and useless facts.

On the other hand, I don't smell fanboy on you. I smell "worshiper-of-Sony-for-life"

and from my point of veiw this guy has no idea wtf he is talking about

Lol, "The sixaxis already has motion sensing" and "the bowling game actually uses the motion sensing for realism". 1. The sixaxis is a piece of shit, havent seen a single game actually use it well cept warhawk
2. To compare the sixaxis to the wiimote is like comparing the horsepower of a lawn mower engine to that of a hummer. It only has 6 directions and is very limited.
3. This is a hell of a fad then. I dont know about you guys, but i'd rather take a fad than a system which A. Had a shitty launch and detered me from ever getting the system. B. No good games that i can see and C. Lowering price and getting rid of backwards compatibility.

this argument at all. In games like wii sports it totally make the game play, and mp3 , re4 and SMG shows that it's a better control system for traditional games too. MP3 has FPS controls which are heaps and bounds better and more precise than the rather hopeless (and now outdated) dual analog system.
When it comes to games: in its first 12 months the wii have had the following great AAA games : TLOZ : Twilight Princess, Wii Sports, Metroid Prime 3, Resident Evil 4 and Super Paper Mario. How many had the 360 and PS3 in their first year?

Peter

Fad?

How come the Wii has sold more than twice as much as the PS3 and already supased the Xbox 360 even though the Xbox launched a year in advance?

You should check facts before posting stupid "editorials" dude.

This article shouldn't be taken seriously. The grammar mistakes, the misspelling and the naming confusion (six access?) mean that no effort was put into it. Let's ignore it and play our favorite systems.

I'll just refute on of your points anway... You said the SIXAXIS will eventually do the same as the Wiimote. There was already a game that had predominantly SIXAXIS controls. It was Lair, a complete crirical failure.

Whoa....calm down, kid.
Just because you bought a system that sucks, doesn't mean you have to say that the two better systems suck.

I know...I feel sorry for you...having wasted so much money on a Crapstation3, but it's ok.....you can sell it to someone, I'm sure.

For one, if you are all about graphics and want fun, go with 360.

If you want fun for a low price and some new and innovative titles, go with the Wii.

Now, instead of ranting on like a little girl, go get a Wii.

Before you write an article it's smart to know what you're talking about.

Maybe you're right and is the Wii no Next-Gen system. But I don't care. I'm having a great time playing games like Super Mario Galaxy, Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, Super Paper Mario, Wii Sports and more.

Yes, I have more fun playing on the Nintendo Wii than playing on any other platform. What's wrong with that? Everybody has a different taste, let them be. I'm not bashing the PS3 just because I prefer the Nintendo Wii.

You're looking to videogames in the wrong way. It's no science where you can take a conclusion about which platform is better. Everyone has different feelings about games.

Remember, people who insult Wii owners by saying they're not real gamers love it up the butt.

I am a real gamer. I own a 360 and a Wii, I love just about every genre of video game out there (everything but educational, pretty much) and let me say, the Wii is amazing.

I love it. I don't even have friends, so I play it alone, mostly. I play my Wii more often than my 360.

And no, I'm not what you would call a casual gamer. I play games for half of the day. I own an NES, SNES, N64, PS1, PS2, 360, Virtual Boy, DS, GBA, GBC, GB, Wii, Gamecube, and a PSP. I play them all (except PS1, old gameboys, and the gamecube, due to backwards compatibility. Oh, and Virtual Boy, because there are no games for it.) So yeah, I am a real gamer.

I don't care so much when someone insults the Wii, because you're just a Sony fanboy, BUT WHEN SOMEONE TELLS ME I'M NOT A GAMER? THAT'S WHEN I'M READY TO SHOVE A KNIFE DOWN THIER THROAT!

Thankyou, and goodbye.

Juja
26 December, 12:02AM

Hmm, I must be the antitheses of what this guy considers to be your average Wii owner.
I've played over 100 hours of Fire Emblem and Zelda (I beat them both multiple times). I've spent a good 50+ hours on Metroid, and RE4: Wii Edition, about 40 on Galaxy and Trauma Center; not to mention my use of back compatability (at least another 100 hours for the GameCube Fire Emblem) and Virtual Console games.

I'll stop listing what games I've played at this point, though there're more; my point is that the vast majority of the games I've played are single-player non-party games. Anyway, just saying despite all the casual gamer hype for the Wii, what you would consider to be 'hardcore' Wii gamers do exist.

Also, as for longevity, Smash Bros. Brawl isn't out yet. I'm not saying the future of Wii depends on that one game, but you can't deny that it'll be a big one. If any game has the potential to be a system-seller and keep people entertained for a very long time, it's Smash Brothers.

Oh how I weep for the human race...

This is a bitter rant of a Sony fan who can't believe that Nintendo is back on top. A lot of information in this article is just wrong and full of fandom. Its not a bad thing that you are a fan of brand or any type of console, but you can push it. And this article shows it.

Funny thing is, this article could have been posted a year ago. But the Wii has gone beyond the fad/gimmick stage. Anyone who owns a Wii en played the good stuff knows that the Wii is a good console, but except for Nintendo and a few third party offerings there hasn't been al lot of good stuff. But hey... the Wii is just one year old and 2008 is going to be pretty interessting.

The only one who should be worried right now is Sony...

You an idiot, this is a terrible article is is full of things I feel that are purposly posted to provoke a reaction and more hits.

Yes the wii isn't the graphic whore that the xbox360/ps3 is...we know this...what is your point. The images on LCD flat screen looks fine. It's not going to compete with ps3 or xbox360 in that sense..but who cares?

Galaxy on my 42" LCD looks beautiful.

"People buying a wii are not real gamers?" That is hilarious..
That comment is so retarded you should be shot.
I'm a big gamer, but i don't have an xbox360 or a ps3. Sony's fualt for high pricing and i've never been an xbox guy..
Ill get a ps3, when GTAIV is around and the ps3 is already half the price it was from launch!

LAST POINT....SONY with the motion sense shit?

are you joking me?

You think sony is going to copy and succesful beat the wii tech now?
It's already been a failure....waste more money...be hilarious.

The ps3 is good yes...but dont be a retard. Xbox360 and wiia re still up there with it.

Article should be removed for utter waste of space on this site...it's hilarious.

This is like reading a forum post with "PS3 rulz, wii & 360 suxx" as the title. Poorly written and thought out.

You say PS3 can add the wii-style controller. But what is to stop Wii from coming out with Wii2 in another 2 years? Nothing. You mention lack of games but forgot to mention PS3's lack of games.

PS3 is very likely to be the the future #1. But I'm not buying a console now to invest in it's future. I want to play games which is why I have a 360 and Wii. Both very fun.

Glen
26 December, 2:02AM

I'm figuring that most of your argument, including the one I'm about to counter, has already been demolished by the other commenters, so I'll just address the question of who's buying the Wii.

I am a gamer. I've owned at least one system in each generation, and had been buying at least one game a year for that system (usually more than one). I bought the wii, and in a little over a year, I now own 18 games for it, games covering a wide variety of genres, from adventure, to FPS, to party, to sports, to casual titles... and I'll be getting at least one "puzzle" type, in the form of Zack & Wiki, once it releases in Australia.

The Wii is no doubt a fad. So was the original walkman. So were hula hoops, frisbees, the original NES, the Playstation and the Playstation 2. Just because something's a fad, doesn't make it bad.

And I'm certainly not the only gamer who greatly enjoys the Wii. It may not have the most crisp graphics, it may not have the strongest online system, or the largest number of FPS games, but it's got what I play games for - something new, something fun, something that I can't get with my last generation gaming system. And with such titles as Metroid Prime 3, Super Mario Galaxy, Sonic and the Secret Rings, Medal of Honor: Heroes 2, Zack & Wiki, and the upcoming No More Heroes, Super Smash Bros Brawl, and Star Wars: Force Unleashed, I think the gamer is more than satisfied with the system.

I don't need other people telling me what is good and what is not... furthermore, why sould I listen to a Sony fanboy's opinion anyway? Be happy with what you bought and don't try to convice other people that your opinion is the right one, cause that only shows how much insecure you are...

Juuji
26 December, 2:15AM

Ok I personally think you are a biased PS3 fan boy and I personally don't mind that (we all have our problems). What really annoys me is that people like you who have nothing better to do but go on about how whatever they think is good and ignore what everyone else thinks while bullying other people to think the same way about things as they do (how about some fresh air and a life instead of ranting on about the Wii).
Now anyway.
The Wii is a truly innovative and fun to play with console and I personally have enjoy playing with it even when my friends aren't there. Also every person I know who tried the Wii enjoys playing with it.
The PS3 on the other hand is just a PS2 with prettier graphics and some motion sensing added in the last few weeks of the development process and minus the backward compatibility. Before you complain about me just being a Wii fan boy let me just say that i played all 3 next gen consoles and the PS3 sucked the most. Sure the graphics were nice and pretty but then again so are the graphics on my pc (Which can do more stuff than a PS3 can). The games at the moment are either pretty much terrible, average or have been released for other consoles as well. Most of them don't even use the console's power as they have been originally developed for the 360 (Assassin's Creed being a nice exception).
Now speaking of the 360. It’s a great console with a huge game library of its own and then the, slowly improving, backwards compatibility with original X-Box games. It also has a great online service and will replace your console if it should be faulty.
So if you think about buying a console at the moment consider well whether you want a console which is just a lot of fun and full of innovation. A console that has a huge game library, pretty good graphics and the best online service on a console so far. Or a console which has no worth buying a console for exclusives, no backwards compatibility with the new models, and uses a Blue Ray standard which is already outdated meaning that newer film probably won’t play on it anymore.
The choice is yours.

Espostal you're an stupid, the Wii will be the winner of this console war becose "THE GAMING INMERSION", this is the key to win.
I have a Wii and a High-end PC (with better graphics than xbox360 and ps3) but I don't feel the inmersion on my PC games (COD4, Crysis, GOW) even the gorgeous graphics that I feel on my Wii. The response of wiimote is awesome and I think the second generation of wii games (Enless Ocean, RE:UC, Cabela's Big game Hunter ...check) will be much better when the third-parties learn the tech line of the console and launch games with gorgeous graphics not the same but near the xbox360 and ps3 quality.

I have just read an article of someone who hasn't played the Wii nor the X360, not even on the Gamestop kiosks. If you said that the sixsaxis is beyond the wiimote then ask your Sony gods for a sequel of LAIR(most dissapointing game of 2007) to prove yourself right. Also, you need a textbook and learn how to make an article right.

Gimmic? LOL! Let's have a look at some game scores at www.gamerankings.com and see what system has A-grade games. Check out the overall scores for Metroid Prime, Super Mario Galaxy and others and you will see it puts the PS3's titles to shame.

People said the DS was a FAD years ago and it stills owns the market with lesser graphics than the PSP. What about Pokemon - remember that 14-year old FAD? LOL!

It is obvious that this jerk who wrote the article has no idea about gaming and is obviously a "graphics" whore, not realising that level design and FUN are what make a game. If he is so interested in graphics, why doesn't he look out the window - those visuals will wipe the PS3's visuals of the map.

Have fun with your PS3 door stopper and also look forward to more big companies dumping Sony for the Wii like Capcom and Sqaure Enix have. The Wii is selling due to quality games like Mario, Wii fit/sports, Metroid, Resident Evil, Zak and Wiki etc etc, not because it is a fad.

Remember that Nintendo invented the analogue stick, rumble and many other hardware things and Sony has copied tham all. I guarantee their future handhald will have a stylus and the PS4 (If it is around) will have a Wii-mote style attachement.

Idiots.

The fact that he said six axis as "six axes" is enough to prove he doesn't know what he's talking about.

I own a Wii, PS3, and 360. I can easily say that the 360 gets the most playtime, followed closely by my Wii. The PS3 gets played maybe 1 hour a week, that's it. And I game a lot.

This guy's retarded. i would love a six axes controller, I could chop wood and have 5 backup axes just in case that one broke.

You are a pathetic, biased, Sony Fanboy, with as much logic as a two-year-old. Everyone I know likes the Wii more, but they are both decent systems. Don't bash the Wii just because you are so immature that you can't take the time to actually play some of the good games on the Wii. I for one would rather have a system with 50 good games and 50 bad games and some in between than a system with 200 so-so games.
You are being unbelievably ignorant when you say that "real gamers don't buy Wii." That is a stupid, biased statement, and it is very false. 50% of people have said that they prefer the Wii over both other consoles, so don't make stupid assumptions.
All in all, this is the most biased, childish, immature piece of garbage I have read in several years.

Looks like someone is jelous of Nintendo and it's sales of the Wii. I'm going to say it loud and proud, I'm proud to be a Wii owner. I also played the PS3 and Xbox 360 and both systems are great but the Wii is just something that has changed the video game industry with the Wii remote/Wiimote. I don't know what the hell is wrong with you but I'm glad to see that Nintendo took it's 1-Up Mushroom and is back and stronger in the console wars with Sony & Microsoft unlike Sega and it's dreaded Dreamcast that made them go down and out of the console wars.

the funny thing is that you don't do a thing here to degrade any of the other consoles. The ONLY thing you've done is make PS3 owners look like whiny kids who throw tantrums when things don't go their way. However, I'm not dumb enough to generalize as broadly as you do. I'm intelligent enough to realize that such... retardation is limited to a select few individuals. Congratulations on writing an amazing anti-PS3 article.

This ad...er, oops, I mean 'article'...is obviously a Sony plant. I have had a Wii since day one, and now own an Xbox 360 and PS3, which all play on a 62 inch 1080p HD set.

I use and play them in this order of frequency, and for these reasons:

1. Wii: Anytime company comes, period. Metroid. Zelda. Super Mario Galaxy (it's insane how good this game is) Madden '08. Wii Sports. Wii Play. Virtual Console. Browse the net. Read the news. Get the weather.

2. Xbox 360: Need for Speed series. Assassin's Creed. Gears of War. Halo 3. Fifa Soccer. DVD player.

3. PS3: Blu-Ray Player. Resistance: Fall of Man. Heat the room (I'm not kidding).

Interesting how the usefulness of the consoles are listen in inverse proportion to how much they cost. And this from a 'hardcore' gamer who's played since the days of the Atari 2600.

Enough said. Merry Christmas. Peace out.

Dude, how old are you seriously? I actually feel more stupid after reading your article. Can I have 2 mins of my time back? Do you know anything about video games? Did you do any research? The few stated facts in your article are completely WRONG. You need a new job because you shouldn't be writing at all. Quit now before its too late. Many, many people must have corrected you already, but let me say it anyways on one of the many problems with your arguments. I didn't bother reading all the intelligent responses you got back. In any case, the sixaxis controller (correct spelling) has no IR pointer function whatsoever, hence, no sensor bar. In other words, the Wii can function like a mouse, much like PC games, but at the same time has other unique functions such as motion control, audio, and physical feedback. The sixaxis has no such things. Also if you didn' t know already, the sixaxis motion sensing ability is on par with nintendo's nunchuck, similar tech. It was a last minute tack on by Sony, after witnessing the enormous attention the Wii was getting when Nintendo showed it off at E3. Yet another example of how Sony is not a leader or innovator of video games, but rather a follower, that tries to one up everything that is innovative. The wiimote itself is a different beast , with motion sensing ability far beyond that of the nunchuck or sixaxis. For your sake, you should take down your article to avoid further embarassment.

AC
26 December, 5:59AM

Xabbott, just to add to your statement about what can stop Sony from bringing their own wiimote out. Well a lot of things. But the biggest thing that would stop that from happening is mainly 'support' or lack of it. Remember, the wiimote is essentially the system. It's the main control interface. With Sony adding a wiimote like device, it is a peripheral. Peripheral's rarely do well. Not too many software companies are going to just drop the sixaxis and start making games to support this new device instead. This device would come out during mid cycle of this console cycle. It will not be successful. Probably about as successful as guncon 3 for time crisis, which will probably have about 3 games total that will support it during the PS3 lifetime. I see Sony more of developing the eyetoy more instead of doing that. That would be a smarter move on their part by far.

Your article is very... fanboy-ish... While I don't hate the PS3 (Or the Xbox 360), I'm still very happy with my Wii. So far it's been a blast to own, since November 19th of last year. I agree that the PS3 graphics are beautiful. Wii couldn't replicate the graphics that the 360 and the PS3 have, but in the end, what do graphics matter? They have a nice edge, but I'm fine with the graphics the Wii have. They're fine, and there are games that are just pure FUN. I plan on getting a Xbox 360, then a PS3 sometime in the future.

IR bar is for pointing, not motion sensing. Wiimote has real accelerometer technology to detect 3d motion. Sixaxis has tilt-sensors. Wii may not have the power, but it has the push.

Why is it that when SOME(not all but obviously you can see for yourself who does by reading through the comments here) people buy a game system, they automatically think they are required to hate the other two?

I waited in line with the rest of the Wii fans last year when it first came out and luckily got mine. I loved it and still do (I have most of the good titles that came out this year, GH3, Super Mario Galaxy, Paper Mario, Metroid 3, etc...) But when I go into work and see that Xbox360 game rack with Bioshock, Assassin's Creed, etc... I really really want to play those!

Just because I do doesn't mean I've betrayed some sacred pact I made when I bought my Wii.

People just need to grow up and pick the console they like and understand that when other people buy consoles they are also picking the one they think will give them the best gaming experience. Whether it be the PS3 or Wii, a DS or PSP, an Xbox or a PS2.

(PS I still get people coming in asking about buying their FIRST game boy advance. Food for thought.)

First off I'm a wii fan boy which in terms can be very bad because when I saw this article I thought I was going to explode! When I was reading the comments I realized that graphics are important of course but what about the gameplay if you have graphics that pop off the wall but the game only lets you sit and stand would you buy that game? The PS3 obviously has some great benefits but it does not mean that it has any potential to beat the Wii let alone the 360

What a fool you are. I have had a Wii for sometime now and love it and yes once the party is over and everyone has left I do play on it by myself. Yes it may not have all the capabilities of a PS3 and the graphics are not as good but at the end of the day I did not buy it for those things, I brought it for the fun not for the graphics. You cannot expect it to have the same capabilities as a PS3 when it costs half the price of a PS3, which an average family just cannot afford. You are just a PS3 fanboy who has got the hump because the PS3 is not doing so well at the moment, well there is obviously a reason for that and I think you will find that it generally comes down to the cost of it, just because you can afford to spend out on it does not mean everyone can and this is no reason for you to go and bad mouth every other console!

Sounds like a typical fanboy response to his system landing way behind the competition. I'll give you that PS3 has awesome visuals, but get your facts straight when you compare the PS3 controller with the Wiimote. They are not the same by far (and that doesn't just include IR). PS3 will no doubt get stronger this year (it can't get worse can it) but competition from Microsoft and Wii will be stiff no doubt. The funny thing is is that Wii is not even really competition with PS3. It is a different machine with a different purpose. Both have strong points, but unfortunately PS3 has Xbox 360 to contend with directly. Real gamers love games, not systems.

Also I've read reviews on the ps3's orange box vs. the xbox 360 version and the ps3 version has framerate issues.

Is it just me or wasn't the ps3 supposed to have like 10 processors and the best graphics. So why is it losing out to the ps3 and to the wii.

oh yeah, cuz the wii is a gimick and the xbox sucks right.

Wrong, also look up the definition of Gimmick, if you do you will see one definition is an ingenious invention.

How long do you play a game before you get bored with it? Many games don't last 2 or 3 months if there single player only. It's not the Wii thats a fad, its the games. Nintendo is currently doing most of the work suppling games.

To what Gryfter posted...HAH!!!

I'd go on a multiple paragraph rant on some more arguments but...I don't think its needed...Everyone else has pretty much stated all of it.

PS3 over Wii? Hmm, lets see the PS3 match the Wii in terms of FUN. I am a hard core gamer, but having to pay 400 to 500 bux is simply rediculous. I own a PS2 and the original XBOX... and will most likely upgrade to either the 360 or Wii... the PS3, well, not until it comes down to a 300 or so.
Why the 360 over the PS3, the same reason I like my PS2 over the original XBOX... a massive game library.
Lets see SONY get a few descent games in the league of Gears of War or HALO, then we'll talk. Untill then PS3 units will just gather dust in BestBuys and circuit city's.

My analysis on the Wii, from an unbiased gamer who hasn't tried any of the 3:

The Wii is following the trend of the new global shift in marketing that the internet has caused. Therefore, it's success is highly expected, and highly plausible. Instead of just following the mold, it's focusing on getting more products out to more people, and THAT"S what gives it its edge.

Add in lower production costs, support for multiple controller designs(and therefore many flaws in the wii's controllers CAN be overcome with a few changes), and the potential to appeal to anybody with a few refinements and marketing strategies, it could easily crush the other consoles. Low costs, combined with even lower production costs, means that BOTH sides don't have anything SERIOUS to complain about. About 5-20% of its sales gets turned into actual profit, so Nintendo won't need to worry about the costs of additional features.

Now that we've gone over a rough summary of the marketing scheme, the Wii brings a new level of functionality that actually prevents the negative side of gaming. The health of somebody who games for extended periods of time normally deteriorates over time, due to lack of movement, which brings a lack of oxygen, which kills brain cells, and such. The electromagnetic waves can also inflict brain damage and possible triggering of certain genetic switches. But the Wii, prevents you from pasting your face to the screen due to the amount of movement needed for certain games. This reduces the risk of damage from any electromagnetic frequencies. In addition, the movement lets you burn calories, increase motor functions, and such.

And with a decent light gun, it has a higher chance of government and medical support than any of the other consoles, or at least medical support without a light gun. That's MASSIVE funding or at least some thumbs up there.

The Wii, also happens to have wi-fi, and what's pretty much one of the best internet browsers available.

In terms of function, the Wii has more function than any other gaming system released, and you really don't need better graphics or processing units for a fun game. Those who say you do, think about WHAT makes a game fun. Older games were still plenty fun, and they were using pitiful hardware. GBA games are still plenty fun, but they can't produce stunning graphics.

If you still argue that the Wii is for wimps and retards, and has no functionality, think about what requires more processing power in your brain. Pressing a few buttons and mindlessly following the screen, OR: pressing a few buttons, following the screen at a decent distance, moving your body, reacting, and aiming?

Processing power and such can be refined later on, and with the speed at which technology evolves is so great that it's pointless to keep upgrading form. It's better to use existing tech to increase functionality, THEN upgrade later on. A tree's roots don't just grow straight down. That's too inefficient, and it would be uprooted easily. A tree's roots grow wide and complex, grasping the soil first before they grow long.

In terms of disadvantages, the Wii only lacks in hardware, and that's if you don't consider the controllers. But in return, the Wii's cheaper, gives more freedom, and appeals to more people. And more money. And more potential. The PS3 and Xbox 360 aren't making money right now. They're losing their companies billions. The Wii hasn't been out for long, and it's already earning pure profit.

By next year, gaming computers will have already exceeded the PS3 and Xbox360(AND will be THE most powerful prosumer tools available). If nintendo releases a new console in 2011, and Sony releases the PS4 in 2014 as somebody else said, Nintendo would be making even more money, since at that point, the new console would equal or surpass the PS3 and Xbox360, due to the massive advances in tech.

AND it would probably be more refined and thus have less flaws, and still hold the massive audience and functionality of the Wii. Simply put, the Wii and Nintendo have more surface area compared to the others, since the Wii has multiple branches of customers, and more areas it can explore. If Sony and Microsoft are growing crops with primary roots, Nintendo's growing crops with secondary roots.

And one more thing. The Wii is on a different path from the other consoles. Don't bother bashing it. It doesn't have any obstacles on its path yet.

the wii in my opinion is the only console that is next-gen, this is because it is the only 1 of the 3 home consoles that has tried something new (the other 2 have just improved on their older consoles) and is so far it doing nintendo well, the only thing that worries me is that game developers have been pumping the worst games imaginable into the wii to try and get a quick buck. if this doesn't stop then the wii is going to crash and burn.

The Wii is a fad no doubt about that, its this years Tickle me Elmo .It was way for Nintendo to get out of investing in their next platform. They simply tweeked the gamecube and added old off the shelf technology and slapped the Wiimote label on it. They have tapped into the casual crowd but this crowd will move unto something else by this time next year. The thing cant even play DVD's forget talking about HD. Wether or not the Wii sales the most this generation, Nintendo has found their formula to success. They are profitable right now, which is more than you can say for Sony's or Microsoft's gaming divisions.

Dude my ass could spit out a better story. Of course I admit the PS3 is good... By itself. When compared to Wii and 360 it doesn't stand a chance. I am a Wii owner, soon to be 360 owner and PS2 owner. Why PS2? Because PS3 sucks ass! I feel bad for Sony because they have lost so much damn money. They are a great company but they seem to make really stupid decisions.

"Therefore, it is now accepted that Wii is the bes home console for First Person Shooter gameplay because of this functionality. Analog sticks are now clumsy in comparison when playing a FPS"

Are you really that stupid? The Wii is complete garbage for FPS. What AAA FPS titles does the Wii have going for it? Unreal 3? CoD4? Halo 3? Bioshock? The Orange Box? Gears of War? Rainbow Six Vegas 1 and 2?

360 is hands down the way to go for console FPS gaming; not your Wii.

At the end of the day the wii is just a kids fad toy , It has more in common with fisher price toys than it does with the HD consoles. The wii is a complete piece of shit unless you are under 10, or a consumer sheep soccer mom who is easily conned into purchasing garbage like the piece of shit wii. nintendo are a cancer in the game industry and are the biggest threat to real gaming ever. they can stick their waggle wands where the sun dont shine hope they enjoy all that minigame shovelware and last gen PS2 ports with shitty low def graphics. the wii fad will pass like all fads do, the under tens are like that

I dare You, Mister Epostal, To actually play the wii. Then play the insult game. But hey let's compare anyway.

Wii-Better Games and Exclusives.
PS3- Assain's Creed
Wii-Hyped Games live up to it
PS3-One word: Liar
Wii- Innovative, but at the death of graphics
PS3- Good Graphics... Too bad no one has utlized them
Wii-The Best Shit out there
PS3- Simply Shit. With goat testicles at the top.

Now I'll get the forementioned Shit, and shove it down your throat. Then I'll rip out your eyes and play golf with them. Then I'll sharpen the PS3 you love so much and use it to remove your spin. THEN I'll beat you to death with your spine and give your body to the Sharks. Jackwad.

And "Not Dyrad" play Metroid Prime 3. And Resident Evil 4 and RE: Umbrella Chronicles. Best FPS ever is MP3.
And Carl, Nintendo is not a Cancer it's paved the way FOR the Sony and Microsoft consoles. Only Nintendo stood the test of time.

I am sorry but you are just being ignorant, while yes I do argee that the PS3 has a higher tech spec and system strength, does not mean that it is better than the Wii in all strengths. The Wii, yes is partly a gimmick, but the idea behind the Wii was to be something people would want to play, being fun and entertaining. The PS3 aims for gamers and the Wii aims for peace and fun.

I am a Sony fan, and they've been good to us, and Im also a Nintendo fan because they are fun. I play games to relax so thats really why I haven't gotten a Wii so far.

The Xbox 360 yes, does have the high chance of commiting suicide, but at least Mircosoft has balls (or money) to support anyone that loses they're system to it.

Suddenly you jump off and begin talking about the iPhone and Vista OS, what does that have to do with the Wii? Nothing, if anything use that in a different agurment, they have no real use in a gaming article.

I feel sorry for you, sir. Don't write off systems just because of their repuation, and don't simply just pick one brand as god's gift to man. You are just the kind of person that makes the console peace into a console war.

Good day sir.

I don't know if you even read your comments, but if you did then you would really know just how very wrong you are. I have read just about all of them and I have not seen one comment that supports your statements. So please never write an article ever again, you insult writers and people with even half a brain everywhere. Do the rest of the world a favor and just stop breathing.

I own a PS3 and a Wii and enjoy them for different reasons. This is easily one of the worst articles I've read in a while. If you want to voice your opinion, fine, but don't state it as fact. It just makes you look like a complete ass.

Besides, wouldn't Sony's intentions to mimic the Wii only imply that the actual concept is a good one?
