Hand Prints on Google Book Search

Google is still on its mission in digitizing millions of books in order to make them searchable and available to the public. Well, those who go online anyway. One can say that Google is becoming overzealous over this project which they call as the Google Book Search. They have set deadlines on how many years it would take them to digitize certain number of books, and we’re not just talking about thousands, but millions of books to be integrated on the web.

It’s only the company that knows how many people are involved in this project. Google has people scanning something like 3000 books a day and then upload on the site for Google Book Search. Just maybe, in these scanners’ haste to complete the quota they have for the day they were not careful enough! There were recent reports that some of the digitized books in Google had hand scans included in them! Their hands caught right on top of the books. Talk about catching them literally pink handed. See the pink latex on the fingers?

Some of the digital books that had them are the 1855 edition of “The Gentleman”s Magazine” and in The Trial and Death of Socrates. I’m quite sure the readers were quite shocked to see these odd-looking fingers emblazoned on the pages of these timeless pieces of digitized literature. Google has better improve their technology, which they are doing now as stated by Google Australia spokesman Rob Shilkin.
