There is another new hard drive from Samsung. The 1.8-inch and 2.5-inch 64 Gigabyte solid-state drives (SSD) are now said to be the fastest in the industry. It has a very fast SATA or Serial ATA II or native SATA interface. This new hard drive makes use of a 51-nanometer class technology that can deliver 100 megabits per second of write speed and a corresponding 120MB read speed. This new drives opens up better opportunities for computing because of the features that are way above the traditional rotating drives. In order to work well, it also makes use of a single-level-cell 8GB flash chip.

Compared to the drives being used today, this latest Samsung 64GB SSD burn up less power making it ideal for notebooks. Dell together with some other Japanese establishments will be the first ones to sample this new SSD. Samsung said that this would be ideal for notebooks because of its endurance to shocks and vibrations. Aside from being used in notebook PCs this drive is also intended for corporate servers.
