The iPhone has been made to work with AT&T but you’ve read and heard that the iPhone can now be unlocked in order to work with other networks and service providers. However, those who have unlocked their iPhone using unauthorized means and even those who are still contemplating it have to be warned that doing so can cause irreparable damage to the phone. When the iPhone has been unlocked it will no longer work when Apple’s iPhone software update gets released. The software update that would be released by Apple this week would enable users to buy music downloads wirelessly.

Since the software used to unlock the iPhone is not of the same format as the one used by Apple the only thing that will happen would be chaos. Senior Vice President Phil Schiller said, “We tested the phones and discovered that some of these unlocking programs permanently damage the software”.

With this warning already given by Apple, iPhone owners can unlock it at their own risk.
