Facts and figures will show that Sony’s PlayStation3 is really lagging behind Nintendo and Xbox. The two console brands already sold 8 million and 11.6 million units respectively while Sony only have 4.3 units to boast about. So that means they have to find some other way of enticing customers to take more of the PS3. And they have with the new device, which they called as the PlayTV, as announced in the Games Convention in Leipzig, Germany. This PlayTV is a device that is both a television tuner and a personal video recorder! Through this new device, users will be able to record live TV shows straight on the console. The stored content can also be moved to the PlayStation Portable in case you want to view it sometime in the future.
The device features Digital Video Broadcasting – Terrestrial format that allows it to accomplish the mentioned tasks above. By early 2008, European countries Germany, Spain, France, Italy and Britain will be the eyewitnesses to this new Sony device.
