Nokia Battery

After some reports about certain Nokia mobile phones blowing up, the company is now voluntarily recalling approximately 46 million cell phone batteries that were manufactured by Matsushita Electric Industrial. Nokia also proposed to replace the said batteries; affected consumers only have to ask for a replacement.

The batteries that are a cause for concern are the Nokia-brand BL-5C that was produced back in December 2005 until November 2006. Nokia users must check on their cell phones to check if their phones run on the mentioned type of battery. According to Nokia some of the batteries in this line may overheat if short circuit happens while it is being charged.

There have already been 100 reported cases of overheating luckily there have been no accounts of serious injuries or damage to property. Because of this recall, Nokia shares dropped 35 cents or 1.6 percent down to 22.28 euros in Helsinki.
