Touch screen technology has been around for a while, but Microsoft is taking things to the highest level with their newest developed technology – the Microsoft Surface. I say to the highest level because this is the first product in the field of surface computing technology. I saw a video of how the Surface works it was really impressive. Microsoft surface is the size of a coffee table and you’d likely mistake it for a coffee table really.

With the Surface using the mouse can be done away with because Surface makes use of your multi-touch technology that enables you to process several things at one time. A more personalized interaction is offered by the Surface as the user deals with various digital content.

So in a gist, the Microsoft offers direct interaction, multi-touch, multi-user and object recognition. Direct interaction means users can really take hold of digital content. Multi-touch and multi user means that the Surface has the ability to distinguish the different areas, which the user comes in contact with and another thing is it can process all the things even if several people make use of it at the same time. And to top it all, the Surface can recognize whatever object you place on it.

Microsoft Surface is intended for hotels, retail establishments, and restaurants and public entertainment venues. By the end of this year, Surface will be commercially available.
