Nintendo Wii Sets Goal of 35M Units Sold by 2011

Did I hear anyone say that the console war is over? Huh, you are so wrong if that is what you think because the race is still on. Nintendo in particular aims to be number one by declaring its target sales of 35 million Nintendo Wii consoles in the US market alone by the year 2011 or 2012. Yes, this is straight from the lips of Nintendo of America marketing chief George Harrison in his interview with Bloomberg.

Demand is much greater than we anticipated,'' Harrison told Bloomberg.” A year ago no one thought we would be in this position.'' Maybe the secret of the Wii’s patronage is the fact that it is appealing not to the hardcore players but most especially to those who are not into gaming so much. Twisted logic? Well, it works for them as shown by the April’s sales figures. Nintendo sold 380, 000 units compared to PS3’s 174, 000 and Xbox 360’s 82, 000.
